Just more lag surely. I used 2' piping and id say thats probably enough and very easy to route up

Exactly, is just daft going bigger. If nothing else, think of the physics - why would you need 2.5" piping on the intake when you've only got 2.5" on the exhaust lol.

Have a look at the boost piping on something like a 330d, they make power well over anything i've seen on here, but I don't remember seeing 3" pipes everywhere.
