Welded up, and they gave it a quick skim which I'll be sorting properly obviously.

So I set about making more holes to fit the battery clamp.

The negative was too long, and only just holding on as it'd clearly been pikey'd previously:

So that's held in for the time being, but I need to get another battery. This one has no vents and I'm not having it corroding again... MX5Parts want £100 + P&P for a new one. I think I'll just get another one from Halfords for half the price and vent that...
Also, it sounds epic with no back box! So now possibly working on a straight through replacement...
