What to replace when changing a engine
#5
As above, EVERYTHING you can afford!

I could happily spend £500 on doing bits while the engine is out as theyer so easy to do while its out.

In no particular order things you should consider:

Full service; Oil, air and fuel filters and the oil itself.
Belts; cam belt, aux belt, all new tensioners and replace the water pump.
Seals; Inlet manifold gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, both crank seals, gearbox input and output seals, rocker cover gasket.
Full set of engine mounts.
All new coolant.
Set of decent glow plugs.
Brand new main earths and power cables.
Gear box oil.
PAS Fluid.
Water pipe O rings.
And actually the PITA water pipes so new matrix hoses and the one that runs alongside the engine.
