That may well be true Chris.......but of all the new cars in my family none have ever actually broken down - Fabia 1.2, C3 Picasso Auto VTR, Hyundai matrix 1.6 (x2), Hyundai i10 1.2, Nissan Micra auto 1.2 (iirc)..........hmm what do they all have in common? Yes they're 'low end' petrols....no turbo, no dmf, no dpf........so nothing to majorly break! Remind me again why I keep buying diesels....
But I think FOR ME the thing is more 'feeling' something's reliablle, even if in reality its not. I was scared to go out in the 106 as it always felt like it was falling apart, but my mates still driving it and its still (almost) whole. Yet the Golf shat its turbo in my ownership, and after a few very cautious days I was back to trusting it again. I know it makes no sense to you guys, I can't explain my thought process either so you definitely can't, but if I 'feel' somethings more reliable, I've got a better chance of trusting it.
