As lame as this sounds its insanely addictive.
you have to mine materials, make them into other stuff and build whatever you want and there are also monsters that will blow you up and ruin your buildings so it gets harder.
words don't really do the game justice but give it a go as you will be surprised

There is a free version online but it won't be as fun as you get all blocks given IIRC .

its insanely addictive and dont knock it until youve tried it! It does take imagination and intelligence to get the materials needed for items needed to 'craft' other items.

Like you can make a compass to find your way around...
make a farm to farm crops to boost your health...
then make the farm automatically harvest all the crops on the push of a button!
make a controllable waterfall/dam
enter the nether (hell) and get awesome materials
obviously build a house
build paths between peoples houses
build bridges between mountains
build an underwater house!
find a carvern to mine the best materials (diamond, gold, silver, iron)
and the finale is you have to find a secret place underground on the map (which there is no way of finding without luck) and then you are transported to another hell where you have to fight the ender dragon!
