Hi All,
Not sure what to do. I will be pulling the engine out to fit GTI6 exhaust manifold. Ill be giving the bay a good clean and possibly a bit of spraying in places. What should I do with the engine though? Ive got silver hammerite and a whole load of GUNK engine degreasant.
Should I take an extra day to degrease, pressure wash, dry and paint the engine?
I imagine that it would look great for all of two seconds and once oil and grime reappears it will be a pain to repaint and keep clean. Should I just degrease it and leave it at that?

You need to paint it red.
cos red ones go faster.

red for the SAXO power, but yeah, deffo enamel, not hammerite
Given the choice between Niall and the sheep. I would choose the sheep!

Hammerite is fine on blocks and brakes, cleans up surprisingly well and I've never had a problem with it coming off even having had brakes hot enough to boil the fluid and get sparks coming out the pads.

Yeah my block is painted with Hammerite and its still looks like the day it was painted.....just covered in oil :p

did you paint it black or silver?
Black but i wish i had of done it a different colour. It makes finding a oil leak much more difficult!

Can't do blue in a red car!
Black would look good imo, shouldn't show up the dirt/oil but look better than rust.

The last one I done in the mini I was able to buy some proper bl green paint from.a specialist. Sort of reminded me of coach paint.

Shame it's not a cherry red then if surggest yellow, but with Diablo if stick with silver it's mind of a safe bet

Just make sure you lacquer it and chip bits off so it matches diablo..
