Worried my clutch is going

literally had the car a month, I can push the clutch down the smallest bit and it disengages the drive to the engine. bite point is pretty high too, wondering how much it would be for a new clutch and fitted by a garage.
rough estimates please
1.9 diesel Phase 2 - scrapped
1.8 meridian Phase 3 - going strong!

Try stamping on the pedal as hard as you can a few times. It may just be that the adjuster has stuck and hasn't done its job properly.
If it does need a new clutch, costs vary. The clutch its self for a genuine (Valeo) kit is about £100 then add £20 for oil. Labour can be anything from £150 to £400

The mechanics i spoke to about getting mine done all said between £250 and £300, and when i had the one on the 1.4 done, it was £250.

Depending how far away you are I can do you the clutch and guarantee to be cheaper than a garage

I would shop around and find the best price or another way to make it cheaper is to buy the bits yourself and then get the garage to fit them

If the garage supply and fit the unit, there's no question that in the event of a problem it is down to them to sort it and there should be no additional cost to you. If you supply the clutch and the garage fit it, in the event of a problem that isn't unquestionably a fitment issue, you're likely to have to pay the labour element again to have the issue fixed - and given it's a clutch, that's basically the whole job having to be redone and thus the whole labour cost (probably £150-200 or so if it's going through the books) again. Unless the garage is taking the p**s with the cost for supplying the clutch, given the potential ballache I would get them to supply and fit.

Saxo specialist near me quoted me £200 including clutch. Should of gone with them I'd of still had my old hdi. :-)

Toms306 and I are really good at changing clutches. Only cost £50 in parts and only took 2 months!
