engine mounts

going for some standard mounts.

i need a gear box mount and the one on the left.

what shall i go for? second hand or some of the ones of ebay? ive seen them on ebay for like £10 each?
and links and help please

I got a lemforder gearbox mount from Ecp for about 14 quid. Other side I haven't done yet but I'm dreading as I think it's going to need welding up
Also need to do my bottom mount at some point.

The upper ones are easy to fit.

You might not but your missus does need exciting once in a while!

I've heard that its only the bottom mount that gives major vibrations. If you have the top two as group N and bottom one as a standard one, it's fine.. So I've heard anyway!

ideally i dont want to have to press anything lol

Top two are bolt on jobs. And the bottom one, with the powerflex you can cut the old one out and fit the powerflex one In situ

I would get the group n ones mate.

With the top ones fitted (now that theyve softened up after about 500 miles)

The only rattle I have is the shit in the glove box and the crappy plastic radio surround (although only at certain RPMs)

Cant wait to get my bottom mount on tomorrow and TBH not only does the missus love it but theres a point at about 5250rpm that goes right through me, so much so that my MPG has been 21mpg this last tank (oops)

Matt Ive got baker BM all round now and its epic, you need these in your life. Ill sell you my spare lower mount cradle so you can get the lower mount pressed in without taking the car off the road.

Chris how is yours now? I know you said today that it didn't vibrate much but does it still vibrate? When it's not hunting, my car is silky smooth (not like this diesel shit) and would like to keep it that way!

Yep, I cba to work out what vat is added. Something like £104, then £7 for delivery.

Matt get the bottom one you Tart, It makes very little difference to the amount of vibration but a huge difference to the driving vibration.

The link Jim posted is he one i used but yes its £88 plus VAT plus delivery making about £115 for the set.


My car is smooth but it hums / tingles now, not enough to be anoying although on start up it does bang around a bit. Theres several bits of trim rattling at the front of my car (including the bumper) but you dont hear that inside.


I dont know if its a placebo or something but the induction engine noise under hard acceleration sounds louder and better, I think its a little louder inside the car too cos after a motorway drive last night sitting at 80mph I really appreciated stopping and shutting off the engine for 5 mins as the wind/engine humming noise had been getting to me.


There is still certain resonant frequencies where things rattle like the radio surround and the stuff in the glove box but I love it. your welcome to come and drive my car if itll help you decide





Basically in short (and IMO of course) it would be easier to live with the full set of group n mounts then these under sprung coilovers
