I have searched till my fingers have gone numb....
I cannot find a defo KG weight for the 1.9, lump bare.

And even less info on the possible weight of the 2.1 lump.

I have assumed it be heavier...but then some may assume the GTi engine is lighter, yet we all know it isnt.

I need to know weight differences to help in calculating the right LBs spring rate for the coilovers...

any help appreciated

The 2.1 is heavier by 10-20kg at a guess, maybe even more.

I know it sounds OCd...but I have OCD my wife and friends tell me...so really want to know!
I have a old set of scales...so could weigh the 2.1 but would like to know the weight of the 1.9??!

 So...

 a 406 hatchback 1.9 LX Td weighs 1335kg....

 a 406 hatchback 2.1 LX Td wieghs 1415kg...

thats a mighty 80kg, yes EIGHTY kgs heavier......but to factor in that the gearbox and flywheel from a 2.1 is heavier too....

any thoughts on how much heavier the 2.1 gearbox/flywheel would be than a 1.9???

^^^ Could be thicker shafts, stronger springs and shocks, bigger brakes, bigger wheels, thicker ARBs and TBs etc all adding up to that weight.

I dont want to go too hard...Im not building a track toy....

got some real soft 180s for when it snows...

but I was thinking 275 for rest of year by some quick calculus...

how hard is the 325 ride?? what setup have you got on the rear?!

It's firm but not bouncy, the 350 were a bit bouncy.Koni adjustables shocks all round, homemade coilys in the front.

Theres a whole thread on coilover spring rates herehttp://306oc.co.uk/forum/thread-1270.htm...ring+rates
GAZ ones are 325 standard, cheap ebay ones are about 200 standard

Theres a thread over on 205gtidrivers with engine weights, think it's called difinative weights thread. Think the 1.9 is 140kgs.
EDIT Weights thread
1.9- 140kgs
2.1- 171kgs!!

ive got a large crate full of different coilover springs, no idea what the spring rates are though, but i imagene some of them are quite hefty as they all come from various rally cars, everything from gravel to tarmac setups. is there a way of identifying spring rates?

		thanks strictly....you're a star...repping you for that

the spring should have on it somewhere a number....but if its old and bashed about you may have no luck...

you can start by measuring its size...Inner D and length but the important Lb'age would need a special machine for checking

That would explain why I struggled to lift a 2.1.
