Il be updating this with plenty of extra info/numbers probably tomorrow, but for now here are todays photos and a quick write up of whats going on.
Firstly, got hold of a govenor cradle and assembly from a transit Bosch VE (the same one needed for an 11mm head conversion) and removed the assmebly from the cradle and took it all apart. This is the setup straight out of the pump:
![[Image: 7468680984_22608c5e06_z.jpg]](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8161/7468680984_22608c5e06_z.jpg) DSC_6435 by Daan! , on Flickr

Then got the 306 setup, which looks like this:
![[Image: 7468676570_c5520eb777_z.jpg]](http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7113/7468676570_c5520eb777_z.jpg) DSC_6447 by Daan! , on Flickr

And removed the assembly from that too, so I could show/compare the difference between the two easier (Transit cradle has 2 shaft seals and a longer throw on the pivot arm):
![[Image: 7468677682_c3f88a752e_z.jpg]](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8155/7468677682_c3f88a752e_z.jpg) DSC_6442 by Daan! , on Flickr
![[Image: 7468678690_95f99baf02_z.jpg]](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8026/7468678690_95f99baf02_z.jpg) DSC_6439 by Daan! , on Flickr
![[Image: 7468679686_f043a8a72d_z.jpg]](http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7259/7468679686_f043a8a72d_z.jpg) DSC_6438 by Daan! , on Flickr

Then I used the main long spring from the Transit assembly in place of the normal 306 spring. Because its longer it doesnt need shimming/will be stiffer just on its own.

Got Hannah to compress it all and fit the circlip because I still dont have much strength in my hands, and this is the final product:

Should be going in mr Toxic's car soon as his birthday present
Thanks, Dan.

That is because he has used the transit shaft & carrier to get the extra movement provided by the longer arm on the pivot
Do keep up

Yeah probably should have made that a bit clearer, there are 2 mods going on here. The 306 cradle being replaced by the transit cradle for more travel and the transit spring going in the 306 assembly as a more oem and efficient version of a normal gov mod.

But the transit shaft is assembled not just the arm, can see why you'd fit arm for the travel but will the shaft itself fit?

When I did this mod, I assumed I wouldn't get more travel, but would get the same travel quicker. I.e. like a quick shift for the accelerator.

Joe, the shafts are identical other than the extra seal and tom, the way I work it out in my head is that it works sort if like a quick shift as you say but also sits further back at idle and further forward at max throttle....

This is what I run in my pump. Gives a decent idle, while still being able to run loads of fuel at full throttle.
I messed with a couple of different Gov setups before settling on this one...

I found four Transit pumps at my local scrappies but they didn't have the magic 414 in the part number, at least not that I could see. Same LDA cap as the pumps used in the 11mm guides but didn't check anything internally. Might now though, just for information's sake

This wont give any more or less fuel over the stock one just to point out, throughout its entire movement, the stock ones hardly move as it is before the levers are from min to max.
