Got a 3rd Peugeot in the stable now!

Yep, bought a third Peugeot today. Only a cheapo but its another thing to fix so I can avoid starting fitting bits to the rallye and the 'state.

Nearly killed me on the way home, almost ploughed into the back of a London bus at a decent speed when the brakes suddenly gave out.

£120, 63cm frame, allegedly recently serviced (appears the bloke has been done over on this as it hasn't been apart) Cheap as the seat post was allegedly stuck in and had been for at least 4 years, great, steel post in steel frame I thought. Anyway took me 5 mins to get that out with a hammer. However turns out the quill of the stem was well and truly stuck in the forks que half a can of wd40, blow torch, all the hammers and eventually snapped the stem so theres half of it stuck in the forks, ARSE. Need new forks then.

Anyway ordered a few new bits, its only 12 speed and I want to run 1x10 or 2x10 but I just cant afford the set up for that yet, I have bought a front mech to replace the missing one and a set of flat bars of a decent width (by which I mean shoulder width, the current ones are barely 400mm across) as I just cant cope with narrow drop bars.

Currently being sprayed hammerite red.

Bargain, the big framed stuff tends to command quite a premium as it was rarer back then and is more desirable for todays bigger humans.

Yes!. For a bike thats as old as I am with a seat I couldnt adjust and bars I dont like its a beautiful ride through London dodging busses and pot holes. One of those instantly likeable bikes.

Nice

could do with a racer atm as biking 7 miles each way to work on a mountain bike with dirty great maxxis jump tyres isn't much fun.

I actually love these even if they are mostly owned by the arty toff wankers around London who think they are better than everyone else. Real retro bike and I'm sure will be worth a fair bit with a quick tidy up!
