Want to get oil pressure / temp gauges, where does everyone take off for readings from? I presume a sandwich plate.
Are they universal to the thread size? What is the thread size?
eBay the usual place to pick one up?
Any tips etc?
Thanks!

Yeah ebay, pretty sure the thread size is M20x something. Just make sure its clean, i had to do up the bolt on the sandwhich plate tighter than i thought i would have to seal it, you need a big socket for that (well its not big, just bigger than my halfords set had) so make sure you have one handy.

oil temp you get from the sump, oil pressure you can add a tee piece to the existing low pressure warning light switch and use a XU5 or 9JA or 9J4 pressure sender, and an o.e 205 gauge.
no need for a sandwich plate.

It's too fit a ph1 306, not too happy about using an adapter sump plug as it's low to the ground so do I just tap into the sump near the bottom?
As for pressure, where is this exactly Mei?

Above the heat exchanger, theres a small 1 or 2 pin sensor, oil pressure sender, its tapped into an oil gallery. You can get adapters that screw in there and you can drill and tap the sump for temperature... Or you could just get a sandwhich plate lol

		yup.
as for the oil temp, I would drill the sump on the back as per the 205 gti and have an appropriate threaded nut tacked in place, exactly like the gti sump.
or indeed get a 1.6 gti sump with the thread already in place and a sender.

For oil pressure, there may be a blanking plug behind the starter motor which you can use. No need for a T piece then
