Mi16 cam covers on Gti6 Engine

Will the 1.9 mi16 cam / rocker covers (the 16V with stripes) fit on the GTi6 engine?

Asking because they look awesome and 100x better then the boring standard gti6 ones!!

I don't think you can swap them cuz the coil packs are different

Bolt patterns are also different , you could probably fabricate them to fit. Cut/weld/grind/paint them and I'm sure you could make it work

Are there any aftermarket options for rocker covers in this sorta style? I really like the 16V and the line/stripework. Looks really authentic

p.s. I was originally inspired by seeing the 306 maxi engines. Werent those engines modified gti6 donks? Or did they use mi16 heads, because all of them had this rocker cover :/

No, The Mi head is very different from the XU10J4R and RS head's, they run the top of the head all open to the oil etc and use 'o' rings around the spark plug holes, Also being magnesium doing anything with it is almost impossible

For a long time I've been thinking of designing some billet cam covers and a coil cover with venting for the J4RS... Might stop their habit of eating coil packs when driven hard.

Wonder how much interest there'd be...

They look pretty similar. Not 100% sure if they are the sane though. Here's a rubbish pic of a S16 engine. It's difficult to tell if they are the same

The S16 engine is an XU10J4R isnt it? Not RS or something like that??

Well I like that rocker cover, it looks identical. But the bolt pattern appears to be the same. I dont suppose anyone has both cars and can compare?

Did some furthur research...

The cam covers I want are found on XU9J4 AND XU10J4 heads.

XU10J4R and the XU10JRS (Gti6) heads are different, and hence wont fit

Some Maxis used the XU10J4RS heads, and some used the XU10J4 head, hence why some have these covers and some do not.

I'm keeping it to do some head work on and then it's going in my s16 I'm afraid

Mi16 is an XU9J4
S16 is an XU10J4
XSi is an XU10J4R
GTi6 is an XU10J4RS

J4R has plastic cam covers, XU9J4 ans XU10J4 have the same style covers, whether or not theyre interchangeable, I dont know
.. However they do not fit a GTi6..
