Hello just recently bought a 306 gti6 would like to change gearbox from a 6 speed to a 5 speed, can I use the be3 gearbox from a zsara gti

Is it a xsara vts? AFAIK there is no xsara gti, it's called vts.

If the answer to my question is yes, then the clutch will be identical.

What would he gain in changing the gearbox?? (6 speed vs 5 speed)

I've been told that the gearing would be better for sport as a six speed box is not the best .

I use the 5 speed Xsara Be3 box on my Rallye, i prefer the ratios.

Standard GTi6 clutch.

nothing wrong with the 6 speed unit other than not being quite as strong.

xsara vts uses the same clutch,. its a direct bolt on, just don't use the reverse strop cable.
need a part number? http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/ and http://service.citroen.com/ will sort you out.
