		hi,
i'm john from derbyshire, been into anything mechanical for years (a long time) in particular anything special or different
i don't really go for paint & polish, i'm more of a whats under the bonnet & all bolts copper slipped kinda bloke
i'm thinking about putting a 306D lump into a rear wheel drive & tweaking it a bit
any pointers &/or pitfalls would be great
i've not done anything with turbos before so will have plenty of daft or simple questions
for you guys who have plenty of experience

Welcome along. Sounds interesting. The only help I can be is that gearbox matching. (Assuming front engined) some vitaras came with xud lump and some ldv convoys also both rwd the boxes may be of some help for you

		thanks for the welcome guys
bashbarnard i've just bought an LDV pilot for the gearbox & prop, engine mounts & other useful bits etc
i'll probably put the engine in the shed for parts at a later date
i bought a bashed 306 D turbo a few weeks ago & pulled the engine & box before scrapping the rest of it
i'll get some pics up when i get started
what do you guys recommend for a bigger turbo? or is the standard one o.k.?

If its a drift car go vnt. Imo boosts almost instantly from what I hear on here. Look through piggys thread. His struggling a little atm but has good results. I think zx_volcane also has a vnt one. Td04s a bit outdated but proven big power time and time again though.

Friend of mine has put an XUD in his 1971 triumph toledo...
Aside from it being the coolest car ever, hes using the LDV box and modified prop. Had to do alot of fabrication with engine mounts etc but easily doable if your abit handy.

		bashbarnard,
noooo not a drift car as i can't drive for toffee, i prefer the actual building to driving
driving is a means to earn money but building is for fun & pleasure
Matt-Rallye,
i assume he used a RWD toledo to start with?
