Water pump - DeeTurbo - 05-05-2016 I've been looking at do the cambelt and I'd ordered a pump from ECP. They sent me this ![]() I didn't the impeller style. So ordered one from GSF and they sent this ![]() Same sort of impeller. Now I thought it should be more I'll the HDI ones or am I wrong the the OE ones have the ones like the above? ![]() RE: Water pump - powerandtorque - 05-05-2016 OE GTi-6 water pump is similar to the pump pictured at the bottom. RE: Water pump - DeeTurbo - 05-05-2016 That's what I thought, the others are just cheap tat then. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk RE: Water pump - insomaniac45 - 05-05-2016 the top 2 are cheap press steel, although they may last, the design will create cavitation, which could cause case erosion. the back end of the impeller is flat for a reason, this is to prevent cavitation and to help flow through the pump. The small hole in the back of the impeller is there to allow a small amount of water to pass, which would then be on the low pressure side, creating lubrication for the seal. i would not be happy with that part, unless i had no other option..... even then i would insist on changing it out for OEM asap. if the shaft sizes are the same, you could remove the impeller from the busted one, and fit it to the new one, A small blow torch, and puller should do the job. ![]() RE: Water pump - miles - 05-05-2016 I tend to use Motaquip ones at the moment until they change, All OE and well priced for quality bits, Those 2 above look complete s**t RE: Water pump - Toms306 - 05-05-2016 Pretty sure those top 2 are identical? What brand were they? Water pump - DeeTurbo - 06-05-2016 This is the GSF one ![]() Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk ECP one ![]() Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk RE: Water pump - Toms306 - 06-05-2016 Ah that's odd, the ECP KWP one looks OE in the pic! http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/c/Peugeot_306_2.0_1999/p/car-parts/car-cooling-parts-and-car-heating/cooling/water-pump-gasket/?201545345&1&55cf1d78370cd9fe157f811b0e808f7889c755ac&000366 I'm pretty sure they are both the same though, despite the packaging. ![]() RE: Water pump - powerandtorque - 06-05-2016 Website images are frequently misleading, especially ECP who have a nasty habit of picturing and describing one product only to sell you an "equivalent" (I use the term loosely) As Miles said, Motaquip are normally a pretty safe bet with waterpumps (and indeed most bits) RE: Water pump - DeeTurbo - 13-05-2016 Third pump now and this one is supposed to be a Valeo but I think it might be a fake as the markings on the pump don't look right and the impeller is plastic. After seeing what can happen on the estate with plastic impellers I might give it a mess on this car. Next one I'm going to order will be a Meyle one, hopefully should be a good one as there other stuff has always been good quality. Water pump - bashbarnard - 14-05-2016 I got my hdi a genuine one off ebay just search for the part number off service box RE: Water pump - DeeTurbo - 14-05-2016 That's what I've been doing with not much luck. I've messaged a Meyle parts place and it looks like theirs might be plastic to :-( Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk |
