He has been very abusive and threatened all parties. so I think better move on now as tom says.

Yes, exactly this!

Come on Piggy, more engine.
And what are the plans for project lemon other than getting engine shinys?

Rebuilt brakes, decent suspension and new beam essentially.

Then its time to get on with Kev.

A lesson to all involved that read this thread tbh imo. Don't buy blind no matter what you want the world to be unless you know them very well and have earned each others trust. I had the same outlook once, some people are epic, some are $%$£&

Every second post of Piggys involves money and paring things down to the bone, backed up by For Sales threads on the other parts of the Forum. Something tells me he didn't exactly pay over the odds for this or the deal wouldn't have been done?

Even if you lost out this time, with the effort you put in it should more than balance out.

Caveat Emptor as said above. Swings and roundabouts......

James. Hopefully you'll persevere and turn this into an even more useful tool than the current one :-)

RE: Project 16v #LEMON - Piggy - 13-11-2016

Poxy ruddy day
Was a day "off"... First in weeks. But I felt i could make good progress with this engine....
Well. I didnt. Fitted waterpump and a couple of seals was the days efforts in results

RE: Project 16v #LEMON - allye - 13-11-2016

I have days like that, simple or small jobs just seem to take forever or your head just isn't in it!

Just got to keep chipping away.

RE: Project 16v #LEMON - Piggy - 13-11-2016

My head was in it this morning Undecided

For ref for anyone...
If you use a 8v block and 16v head... You need a 144tooth belt...not a 141 belt as I was led to believe.

Project 16v #LEMON - bashbarnard - 13-11-2016

141 tooth is the 8v one, so you need a 144 which is the 2.2 belt yes??

RE: Project 16v #LEMON - Piggy - 13-11-2016

Nope and yup.
141 is 8v.
144 is 2.0 16v hdi (dont confuse with 114 belt for the 16v hdi running pump on cam)
146 is 2.2 16v hdi

Just trying to make it clear if anyone else wants to do it, its a good thing having a few threads to refer to

RE: Project 16v #LEMON - cully - 15-11-2016

no timing hole in my std GTI6 flywheel Wink

Project 16v #LEMON - zx_volcane - 15-11-2016

Stick an xud wheel over it and drill a timing hole in? Or you going to pull the head and tdc it with a dial gauge?

Project 16v #LEMON - bashbarnard - 15-11-2016

RE: Project 16v #LEMON - Piggy - 15-11-2016

Just going to use injector hole with dial gauge. Got no hdi/xud flywheel to time by or check so... Have to be the dial gauge as much as I would prefer a nice simple timing hole/pin.

RE: Project 16v #LEMON - welshpug - 15-11-2016

indeed, no xud pin hole on any xu flywheel i have ever seen.

Thanks for confirming...thought I was going crazy

RE: Project 16v #LEMON - welshpug - 15-11-2016

look at the crank pulley keyway, if the dw/xud pins at tdc itll be pointing straight up (or down...)

on an xu it points straight back along the deck when pinned with a standard xu pulley.
