decomp plate...106 nad - Piggy - 28-12-2013

I wana do the nad turbo right...

Decomp plate then, is it worth it...if so where to get one or is there another option? Obviously I dont wana go mad on lower comp and only going for max 12/13psi at very most...

Thoughts?

What other suggestions for the enginw as I may rebuild a engine for it

Smile

Sam was running unto 40psi at points and never needed any of this decomp plate shit. Man up and get it bolted on.
If you do really want one, i would imagine it would be a custom job.

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - Piggy - 28-12-2013

Yeah but look how his engine faired.

As with the 2.1 my aim is not what max bhp I can get till it blows up and I start again, no, I want a reliable revvy low boost tnad!

Its such a dependable little car I wana get it right

Wasnt sure if diff pistons may do the trick or just having them machined

Its also the wifes car and I wana do it all as a surprise

Skim the pistons posibly if not laser cut a head gasket the machine shop to skim the surfaces true. Working out what thickness you need is the tricky bit

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - Piggy - 28-12-2013

So basically get a thin flange cut then skimmed perfect then use two headgaskets?

IE one either side of flange/decomp plate?

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - Dum-Dum - 29-12-2013

Thin bit of copper sheet and cut yourself a decomp plate.

You could probably just drill material out the piston for an easy fix. It's not gonna make a huge difference to your performance and you can knock off real fine amounts easily.

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - welshpug - 29-12-2013

just bang the boost into a stock motor, compression isn't that high.

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - sam - 29-12-2013

Use a hammer?

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - Jonny81191 - 29-12-2013

Tbh at 15psi it'll be fine.

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - puglove - 29-12-2013

I know nothing about this so I may be talking crap. But could you not pocket the piston heads slightly to bring the company down. Kinda like they do with gti ones when fitting big cams. ? If so I'd of thought this would be the easiest way?

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - Piggy - 29-12-2013

Yeah...in basic terms drill a hole.

Talking to Martin from 106moaners he rekons 10-15psi would be fine...dropping comp he said would make it a vitch to start

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - Chris_90 - 29-12-2013

i think you will be fine just look after it make sure it dont over heat and it keeps all its oil inside the engine and think you will be ok, the reason samass one died so quick he didnt give a shite just max it out and hope for best, if you look after it should be fine Smile

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - Piggy - 29-12-2013

Cool.
So on subject of rebuild...

Other than obvious anything worth doing?

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - Tom - 29-12-2013

Piggys not very good with oil :/

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - THE_Liam - 29-12-2013

I wouldn't go for lower compression, TUDs are quite low as it is so any less and you'd have starting issues, particularly on veg. Just keep boost low, 10psi should make a huge difference anyway...

To add, I doubt your missus will be driving quite the way Samass drives the Go-NAD.

What? You mean ragging the tits off of it? lol

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - Ruan - 31-12-2013

23:1 CR

That's quite high!!!

But leave it, keep it low boost and it'll be fine...

My bad, thought it was 19:1...

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - Piggy - 31-12-2013

I did suddenly wonder what high ratio was coz I knew it was 23:1...
Isnt the dt around 19:1?

RE: decomp plate...106 nad - welshpug - 31-12-2013

no, XUD9TE is 21.9-1.
