banging from fuel tank? - larry1991 - 02-07-2013 hi dont know if this is the right place to post but just recently a noise has appered and im not to sure what its is! its hard to explain but its like an empty tank retracting in size and its comming from the fuel tank now this worries me now ive had alook at the fuel tank and all looks fine its not getting hot or anything like that so then i thought must be the fuel pump in the tank but it still does it when the engine is off now its defintly the fuel take as you can hear and feel it clear as day ive run out of ideas. anyone have a clue what this might be? thanks in advance if anyone does RE: banging from fuel tank? - mikey b - 02-07-2013 Sounds like it might be the fuel tank breather blocked or slightly blocked when the car is using fuel it might be sucking tank in a bit only an idea bit worth a try RE: banging from fuel tank? - WiNgNuTz - 02-07-2013 Why is it that the only thing i can think of is racoons? ![]() /unhelpfulpost RE: banging from fuel tank? - larry1991 - 02-07-2013 (02-07-2013, 07:36 PM)mikey b Wrote: Sounds like it might be the fuel tank breather blocked or slightly blocked when the car is using fuel it might be sucking tank in a bit only an idea bit worth a tryWhere is the breather pipe located? Theres no play in the tank where it is mounted? RE: banging from fuel tank? - Piggy - 07-07-2013 he fixed it with a hole in the filler cap... so the noise is clearly the expansion/retraction of the tank as it empties... so breather hose must be blocked I would say RE: banging from fuel tank? - Grant - 07-07-2013 I really should read the whole thread properly rather than skim reading ![]() Fair enough, glad he got it sorted.
