RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - cully - 21-11-2013

sun's been out for 5 mins today so have offered up the plate and marked the hole for the engine mount nut

droped the plate in and it fitted first time Smile

so i masked up the plate so i could mark the centre point for the mount bolt
i refitted the top mount arm and buffers and pulled the engine central to the mount cup and marked the plate below with a pen through the top bolt hole.

now to drill a clearance hole and weld a captive nut on the lower side of the plate

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - 306Dan - 21-11-2013

Hmm I think the saying is "over kill is under rated", great job with the work so far keep it up

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - cully - 21-11-2013

nuts fitted!

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - cully - 23-11-2013

Repair day today!
removed paint to get a good weld

ive welded this in with an arc stick welder as the original plate was quite thick,
offered up and tacked the plate then reasembled the top mount to make sure it was in the right place.
be warned the rubber mount is quite big so dont weld the plate to far back into the cup or the mount wont screww in properly

cleaned off the paint so i could weld some side filler plates to limit the forwards back movement too

Note the belting protecting the engine from debris entering the Aux/Cam belt

filler plates welded

cleaned up before paint

all masked up
Nice Coat of primer before the topcoat

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - cully - 23-11-2013

Finnished painted mount waiting for paint to harden then to reasemble the top mount

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - cully - 23-11-2013

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - Dum-Dum - 23-11-2013

How much would I have to pay for you to make me a plate the same and weld it in?

i dont want to be offering this as a service i sell, i dont mind messing up my car but other people get quit pissy if you feck up there car

there is a guy in southampton that offers this service for £120
Davyboy on the GTi6 forum if anyone wants his mobile i can pm it to you for you to contact him
he is the same guy that supplyed my solid rear mount plates
to be honest its a good price i was considering using him for the plates but he only offers a fitting service only and that didnt help me as my car is sornd at the moment

Have you already taken the compressor off Paul?

not yet waiting for a bracket to turn up to drop the PAS pump to the AC pump position. as that looks the easyest way of doing it without going full Rallye set up and those pulleys are expensive

should make for easyer servicing too as i can reach the oil filter too then

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - Dum-Dum - 24-11-2013

You wouldn't believe it but I have a rallye aux set up sitting here if you want to buy. (belt bolts and both pulleys)

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - cully - 24-11-2013

thanks for the offer chris but the wallets empty at the moment Wink
the setup im hopefully using will use the std gti6 auto aduster and a 6pk1103 belt

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - lewisdmz - 24-11-2013

Tidy job on the engine mount, I don't think I'll be a real man until I can weld stuff.

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - cully - 24-11-2013

this is what im aiming for with the belt route

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - cully - 30-11-2013

been digging and painting the front

well looks like the project has turned a corner as i now need help with some welding before MOT time
the cars been jacked at the wrong point and crushed the side chassis channel and its corroded bad enough to need cutting out and replacing, up side the chassis channel is sound

cleaned back treated rust and undercoated the front crossmember

hope tomorrow to get some white primmer and top coat on there

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - Dum-Dum - 01-12-2013

I really want to do the front of mine like that and get some proper paint on there.

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - Niall - 01-12-2013

Exactly what happened to mine but the rust was a lot worse. Have cleaned all mine up on the gti. Was rusty but only surface rust and have re sealed it. Lovely job!

RE: Cully's Bianca 6 R150 YVM - cully - 01-12-2013
