RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Ruan - 07-08-2012 If the outer edge is able to flex that much at the *top* of the tyre, then the sidewall is a bit wank... RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Curt - 07-08-2012 I've got an arch roller. You can borrow it for a million pounds. Still cheaper than Lynx. RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Jonny b - 07-08-2012 Ha ha Ed can't escape the trollllllll RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Ed Doe - 07-08-2012 Lol tbh I think with spec2s on the handling would be better than clones. Mostly cause they weigh less and the side wall doesn't deform as much... It's certainly on a par with the clones that were on... ![]() RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Ruan - 07-08-2012 IMHO stop fapping over Spec2s and get some decent rubber on there. RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Scott - 07-08-2012 Spec 2s were good on my Pro Race 1s, but they were pretty poor when the roads were even slightly damp ![]() RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Most people seem to either buy rain sports, spec 2s or T1Rs and I can definitely say that one of them isn't all is cracked up to be. I know for a fact that I'm going for Michelin pilots next. Had them on my Saab and could not fault them! Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Jonny b - 07-08-2012 Spec 2's are fooking epic in the dry but shit in the wet, rain sports, t1r's, ain't a patch on em in the dry, but then you adjust your driving accordingly in the wet RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) I went for t1rs as sort of a all rounder. I know that I can't keep up with grant in the dry otherwise I'll bin it but wet driving is almost as good as dry with the t1rs unless it's silly wet RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Grant - 07-08-2012 If someone spits out of a window i put my car keys away. Theyre not too bad poodling around town. In fact theyre fine. Throw a corner or motorway at them and they cak their panties RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Ed Doe - 07-08-2012 Sorry Curt btw I just saw your post, if they do need it then yes please to borrowing your arch roller, but I may have to repay you in man love ![]() Ruan, these are summer alloys, they're not going to be uses over winter, and not really much in the wet either; so ny question if you think I need to look. Beyond spec2s is what should I be looking at? the price bracket suits me too; most tyres are 110+ and spec2s are 90.... Also, these are the pics of my ns rear; Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Jonny b - 07-08-2012 I would just curl the lip up bud bit o heat on the paint and a rubber mallet! Job done RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Dont roll the arches ![]() RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Curt - 07-08-2012 You don't have to roll the arches out, you can do the above with an arch roller. It's what I've done on mine RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Ed Doe - 07-08-2012 Ok thanks for clarifying guys, I'll have a bash at it some point, do you mind maybe helping me with it possibly Curty darling? ![]() does it look definitely lime its rubbing then? Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Jonny b - 07-08-2012 Defo looks like the lip is rubbing bud RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Matt - 07-08-2012 A touché johnny. We certainly are RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Ruan - 08-08-2012 Spec 2s, T1Rs, Rainsports, KU31s etc... They're all at the end of the day a BUDGET tyre... PE2s are widely regarded as the best tyre you can put on a 306, I'm a massive fan of SP Sport FRs, supposedly Direzza Sport Z1s are awesome also, but do wear fast... RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Ed Doe - 08-08-2012 Can't find a UK supplier of Direzza Sport Z1s. PE2's look shit; are they really that good? I also can't find a supplier of 205/40/17... Spec2s are cheap because as you say they compromise on the all-round performance. They wear faster than most tyres, they dont have a strong sidewall, and they aren't that good in the wet. BUT that's the sacrifice for dry performance. and in 205 40 guise, there aint a whole lot of sidewall to deform!! lol Do you honestly rate your Dunlops more than Spec2s in the dry?? The side walls are a little soft but I only notice it on low speed corners if you throw the car into it. Very progressive tyre and excellent wet and dry grip. RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Niall - 08-08-2012 Ed the PE2 isn't done in 17 I don't think but the pilot sport 2 goes from 16 up. It's basically the same tyre. That's what I had. Truly epic if not slightly expensive. I paid £130 a corner for 225/45/17 |
