... surely you would see that when putting the pulley on ben?
Also, didn't you contact the dealer online and he said it was the right one?

yes! It fitted and the pulley didnt move! but its what kris said! The timing can be out with the wrong key aparently.

Re: Bens bosch conversion dont use the wrong key! - ginge191 - 08-05-2012

You going to return the old key to the dealer and tell him to f*ck himself then?

Sorry but if the key was a tight fit into the keyway and the pulley then how exactly can the timing possibly be out............ever...........if its a tight fit into both then they will be perfectly aligned! I think you have mis understood him there or something! the only way it could throw the timing out is if you had a narrower key than the keyway's are (would have to be a lot smaller to make a difference though IMO) and then it would allow the pulley to move, but you couldn't possibly not notice that!

Re: Bens bosch conversion dont use the wrong key! - ginge191 - 15-05-2012

...perhaps he put the key in upside down, creating the most sketchy pulley ever, which would have caused the utterly useless, stuttery pump ninja

Re: Bens bosch conversion dont use the wrong key! - Ruan - 15-05-2012

You can't put it in upside down, it's half moon shaped and the gap for the actual curved part to sit in is narrower than the flat edge...

yeah bit off more then i could chew!

Im probably only a level 3 spanner..... in haynes... lol

Re: Bens bosch conversion dont use the wrong key! - KrisB - 20-05-2012

I can confirm it was woodruff key. The key removed was too narrow.

Re: Bens bosch conversion dont use the wrong key! - Jonny81191 - 20-05-2012

"Haynes: Three spanner rating (intermediate).
Translation: Make sure you won't need your car for a couple of days and that your AA cover includes Home Start.
Translation#2: But Novas are easy to maintain right... right? So you think three Nova spanners has got to be like a 'regular car' two spanner job"
