Atterz Wrote:Its ran out of derv 6 times? Youve probably nakkered the vane pump then, diesels dont like being run dry.

Heh good point, steel on ally dosnt go well without lube!

But on a serious note, James has a point here, try going a 1krpm idle return test and see how much you measure, if its way down, you acaully have just got a shot vane pump....

Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 05-02-2012

How would i do this?

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - darrenjlobb - 05-02-2012

Pull the return pipe off the pump, connect a spare hose and meter it into a mesuring jug for 30 seconds @1krpm

Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 05-02-2012

Set idle to 1k yes? What will it measure if its good?

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - darrenjlobb - 05-02-2012

Just get someone to hold it or set at 1k, and measure 30s worth... Then pm me the ammount Smile

Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 05-02-2012

Might do that tommorow then, thanks darren.

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 06-02-2012

well, 2 bolts on the inlet were a bit loose, tightened them up and gained about 2/3more psi, feels a tad more nippier, still dieing off though, going to change underbonnet filter tommorow.

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - Mattcheese31 - 07-02-2012

car's a shed . . . . . . . . . Wink

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 07-02-2012

i know this lol.

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - Ruan - 07-02-2012

It's gotta be fuel related, so hopefully it's a relatively easy fix... You never know actually, it could just be a nasty air leak, and when the lines are under heavy suction, it pulls air in and drains the pump housing...

Is it even a slag to start in the mornings?

Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 07-02-2012

No starts easy as hell all the time, bit lumpy but it always has been

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - Ruan - 07-02-2012

But it does miss a little?

Sounds like it could be an air leak in fairness...

Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 07-02-2012

It has been in my mind, yeah misses etc

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - darrenjlobb - 07-02-2012

Meh doubt it, probs just more timing on that front, if its leaking air like that itl be much worse in the mornings / not start for ages etc...

Measure your output...I did that tom guy off here the other days car, which had 3 seized vane rotors, which meant it worked perfectly to 1500rpm, then stopped dead on the power... literally because it couldnt flow any fuel up from the tank....for all you know you may have a worn vane pump / seized rotors also...just not as many...I know it was rebuilt, but dont trust anyone these days, the vane pump is the last bit to come out, and often ignored.

exactly what i said yesterday to Padge, worth checking out at least . .Smile

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 07-02-2012

i mentioned doing both filters to try eliminate those, changed the filter under the bonnet today, and sorted the dodgy idle out, left it for a bit, went to subway and BOOM! pulls as much as i dare take it in 3rd, not enough room for other gears.

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - Dave - 07-02-2012

So all sorted?

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 07-02-2012

aye, seems so dave, going to wind more fuel in tommorow.

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - Jenkosowls - 07-02-2012

What does it pull to with the gov? As mine should be similar

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 07-02-2012

well, took it to 4.5k easy and then let off, that was in 3rd

Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 08-02-2012

So turned fuel uo today and its doing it again :/

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - Dan! - 08-02-2012

How far have you driven on the new filter?

Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 08-02-2012

About 40 miles

drawing air in mate . . . . . . . .

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 09-02-2012

why isnt it hard to start then? it starts up everytime easily, no struggle.

Mine is exactly the same, starts perfectly but it idles like shit when its cold! if you hold the revs at ~1200RPM does it idle fine?? If so its Identical to mine, its been like that for ages (ask Ruan), I even sealed the filter housing and I have now given up on it as its doing my head in lol

i refer you to my previous message on facebook the other day . . . . Wink

Monday:Matthew David Ferguson
i'd check it out though mate
higher up the revs, flowing more fuel= more vacume=more chance of pulling air in, it's happened to me, just feels like hitting a brick wall . . . . .

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - Dan! - 09-02-2012

Not just a pretty face ^^^^

Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 09-02-2012

Might try find any leaks today
