RE: Dum-Dums Bianca GTi6 - cwspellowe - 14-08-2012 What studs have you bought? Only reason I ask is I assume you're planning on tracking the car? Cheap studs have been known to fail, I have cheap ones on the estate and while it hardly gets pushed, especially round corners, the threads have started to round slightly from removing/refitting the wheels... RE: Dum-Dums Bianca GTi6 - Matt - 14-08-2012 I have no box under my seats..... Not sure where mine went. Ive bought normal ones M12 x 1.25 by 40 or 50mm IIRC from Speed Shack. IMHO theyer no more likely to break than any wheel bolt of the same grade steel. I think alot of peoples issues have been caused by not running the correct spigot rings, having dodgy spacers, incorrectly balanced wheels, poorly torqued studs/nuts or the wrong seat nuts etc. Theyer from speed shack so theyll be a suitable automotive grade of steel. Theres a set on Jonnys estate that have been on for 18 months and I assume are still fine and they had several months of me trying my best to drive the wheels off the car. Most peoples opinion on here is that if something is breakable then Ill be the one to break it and I didnt hurt the studs so I have no worries. What are the benefits? RE: Dum-Dums Bianca GTi6 - Kezzieboy - 15-08-2012 Makes wheel changes easier, especially if you have spaces, and means you can get pretty nuts ![]() RE: Dum-Dums Bianca GTi6 - Ed Doe - 15-08-2012 (15-08-2012, 08:27 AM)Kezzieboy Wrote: Makes wheel changes easier, especially if you have spaces, and means you can get pretty nuts Sounds pretty homosexual to me... Dum will you be removing/moving stuff to compensate for you being in the drivers seat? RE: Dum-Dums Bianca GTi6 - chrisrallye - 15-08-2012 Stripping it is the way forward, Mine is all stripped just love the way it handles now and the sound you get. I would make sure you get some good buckets as cheap ones are not great. But its looking good mate. No offence Chris, but the way your car handles will have a lot to do with the several grand worth of uber suspension on your car, rather than the fact it's been stripped..... RE: Dum-Dums Bianca GTi6 - chrisrallye - 15-08-2012 Yeah that could have something to do with it as well. Dum-Dums Bianca GTi6 - Jonny b - 15-08-2012 Stripped and caged makes a helluva difference, especially the cage!! You don't realize how much these cars flex till you drive a caged one RE: Dum-Dums Bianca GTi6 - chrisrallye - 15-08-2012 mine is not caged yet but that is the next thing on the list for me now. Dum-Dums Bianca GTi6 - Jonny b - 15-08-2012 Get it done bud you won't be dissapointed, makes a night and day difference RE: Dum-Dums Bianca GTi6 - Dum-Dum - 15-08-2012 (15-08-2012, 07:42 AM)Ed Doe Wrote: Ok I have to enquire; why are you doing a stud conversion? Interested to see if yours has the stuck down hard sound deadning or notNope, I do have the sticky tar like stuff in the rear foot wells so I assume itll be in the front. I will take it all up one day but probably not till ive got buckets. Might stick a cheap one in the passenger side as its rare for me to have a passenger. So off to get the tyres fitted With some tyres And bolted to the car Oh and the studs for those sad enough to care So whats it cost me Wheels £200 Tyres £233.54 Hammerite £30.29 Tyre Fitting £30 Studs nuts and tool £42.50 Fuel running around picking bits up £25 Wheel cleaner (prior to paint) £7.99 Total £569.32 Ooops, thatll be why im so skint this month. RE: Dum-Dums Bianca GTi6 - vlj - 15-08-2012 For the difference of .60kg I know what I'd stick with... |
