Did you have an agreed value in place?

RE: Bollocks, Bugger, Arse and f*ck!!!!! - Piggy - 27-08-2015

I do feel for you pal...
It's just one of those things.

But you are a proper muppet for trying to start the engine again after it had stopped.

I believe he has it insured at £3k

RE: Bollocks, Bugger, Arse and f*ck!!!!! - Poodle - 27-08-2015

Not being funny, but luck has got f*ck all to do with this. You CHOSE to drive your lowered car with a hoover intake through something deeper than a puddle. You CHOSE to try and start it despite knowing this is the worst thing you can do to a hydro-locked engine. You've CHOSEN to abandon it and hand it over to the insurance. Stop choosing to be a mong. Alternatively, don't post it here and expect a lot of sympathy, i guess lol. Or perhaps just accept your place in life and buy a megane. Wink

Insuring it at an insurance value of £3k and an agreed value are totally different things. I told the insurance I thought it was worth £3k what with prices of rallyes going up and that but it isn't an agreed value policy.

I think bad luck of someone elses bow wave coming the other way and just not entirely thinking about trying to restart the car but TBH it all started when I CHOSE to drive to work rather than get the train, it is all caused by my choices yesterday sadly.

As for a Megane, f*ck that Smile

Less of the megane bashing you Wink

Ive already been bugging chris to buy it back so i can re-shell my completely rotted rallye into it. Hopefully he agrees and it lives on so i can strip mine too a bare shell and get it on the spit even quicker Smile

RE: Bollocks, Bugger, Arse and f*ck!!!!! - Dum-Dum - 27-08-2015

Yeah if i can buy back Matts having it. Be nice to see 2 rallyes both needing extensive work becoming 1 useable one.

RE: Bollocks, Bugger, Arse and f*ck!!!!! - Piggy - 27-08-2015

Not a bad plan tbh

Of course it can be bought back but NEEDS to be done before they take it away otherwise it will become substantially more expensive.

But they cant assess it for a value and official writing off till they take it away to the yard. Catch 22 situation.

RE: Bollocks, Bugger, Arse and f*ck!!!!! - Niall - 27-08-2015

Wrong. Thats what they would like to do. Tell them you want to buy it back and they will just send out an assessor to have a look which is cheaper than them recovering it.
Dont forget, its yours at the moment until they hand over that cheque.

Yeah and therein lies the other problem. It's in London on a road and as you can imagine there is parking restrictions so no doubt it'll be accruing tickets that I won't be paying.

RE: Bollocks, Bugger, Arse and f*ck!!!!! - Niall - 27-08-2015

How did it get out of the water and into a parked place? If the men with big hoses dragged it out, id go and call your recovery company and get them to recover it home for you

Jeez.. Stick it in a garage with a dehumidifier. It'll be reet.

RE: Bollocks, Bugger, Arse and f*ck!!!!! - Matt-Rallye - 27-08-2015

Could you all shut da fuk up and let me buy a cheap rallye? ta Smile

RE: Bollocks, Bugger, Arse and f*ck!!!!! - Pebbles167 - 27-08-2015

Whoops! Sorry. Didn't know that was the plan!

RE: Bollocks, Bugger, Arse and f*ck!!!!! - Matt - 27-08-2015

I am truly gutted for you. Feel your pain, when I partially hydro locked mine it almost made me cry. But 3 years and £900 later it now starts first turn of the key Wink

IMO if you get a decent payout, if buy it back, use the money for the payout to fix it

Didn't plan it! but i think we can all agree it would be put to better use coming to me for a re-shell than being broken up or sold at auction :/

Trumpton winched me out and then pushed her into a parking bay. AA won't recover me home as I don't pay for relay and she's 30 miles from home.

So you have roadside cover only? Worth asking how much to upgrade?

Probably not when I'd already called the AA before the water rose. They'll sting me for loads of money I reckon.
