Oh and on the subject of hammers if you want a nicely balanced bit of kit for a good price Ruan was quite impressed with my lump hammer today while wielding it and was surprised to learn it had come from wilko.

With hammers I will just borrow dad's for now. I just don't want to use his other tools if they might get abused, hence getting my own of what he's got. Can't really abuse a hammer lol

Haha, you obviously don't hammer enthusiastically enough. You can definitely break a hammer.

Wooden or composite shaft?

Extra Long and very short spanners are also very useful, torx screwdrivers are handy, 1/4" socket set, flare nut spanners, wobble extensions, o ring picks, trim clip remover, extendable mirror cant think of anything else off hand.

I see you've never let dumdum use any of your hammers. It was such a lovely hammer... Sad

Dremel is a great bit of kit, but then i'd recommend a good drill first as with attachments it'll be more useful on more jobs.

Wooden.  It was my grandads though so pretty old tbf lol.

Try soaking it in linseed oil/water/engine oil (or any one of a dozen other things I've heard suggested over the years) overnight and the wood will swell back up again.

If not take out the metal wedge then the wooden wedge then make yourself a thicker wooden wedge and hammer that back in before sawing off the excess and hammer the metal wedge back in. Or you can buy new handles in some places but these are about the same price as a new hammer.
