RE: GTi6 Turbo - Niall - 14-08-2013 exactly. Hence why im so keen to do my 1.8/gti engine build RE: GTi6 Turbo - Toms306 - 14-08-2013 Hmm, I've always wondered what the point of the XSi is though? If you want fuel economy and lower insurance, buy a 1.8. If you want speed and noise buy a '6. Why would anyone buy an XSi new? Why would anyone buy an XSi new? didn't the 16v xsi come out before the 16v 1.8? . . . . anyroad it was a bit faster i suppose . . ![]() RE: GTi6 Turbo - Birk - 14-08-2013 The 1.8s are basically a blank canvas with regards to porting, you can tune them to how ever you feel, then adding throttle bodies with a race manifold make for a nice engine. As well as the xu7 engine been alloy vs the iron gti6 lump, so saves a few kg. The biggest difference is the limiter sounds a gazillion times better on the 1.8 than it does the xsi. Much slower cut to it. Win.
