RE: Richies Project Rallye - 306Brad - 04-04-2013

Love the restoration, always had a soft sport for rallyes! Not sure about black cyclones though?!

They look sweet, already put them up against the car to try them out Smile Suit the car millions!!

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Rich306 - 09-04-2013

Had some spare time on Sunday and the weather was good Tongue So i got on with a couple of bits:

Changed over the old discs and pads to Brembos and painted the calliper:

Also removed the scuttle to find 2 - 3 inches of dirt and leaves behind there Wink
Before:

After:

Whilst all this was going on, my good friend Ash was vigorously cleaning the interior to well.... i could say showroom condition, It looks Awesome!!

We then started on the outside and lavishly bathed her in soap with a good polish after:

Since then i have toyed around with the idea of a standard air box and K & N filter as this Powerflow is too big and restricting the airflow to the car Sad

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Niall - 09-04-2013

Think this is now my favourite rallye on this forum! Very tidy and very subtle mods. Just needs a tad more lows at the back!

Richies Project Rallye - Alee83 - 09-04-2013

Was just gonna say that, just needs to come down a bit at the back. Oh, and needs the other clones on as well...!

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Rich306 - 09-04-2013

I have a f*cked rear beam, hence why I'm not lowering it just yet.
Need to save up for a reconditioned one as the camber on this is terrible.

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Rich306 - 09-04-2013

I have got an update for you though, i paid DaveyBoy a visit today in Southampton; intended to just get a quote for some welding from him but he helped me out by fitting a temporary plate in behind the buffers to stop so much engine movement. It also turns out i now have a crack in the mount base which also needs sorting.
So i now need to save up over the next several weeks - months.

The new plate sitting in behind the buffer:

Richies Project Rallye - Alee83 - 10-04-2013

Plate looks like a good job! May need to sort something on mine as there is too much movement as standard. Got a poly lower engine mount and feel all the movement from the top!! Sad

Exactly this. May be spending the weekend in the shed making something up

Might see about getting some made up at work...!

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Rich306 - 11-04-2013

I'm going to have a proper one made up and welded in place the same time i get the mount done.

It's amazing how much of an indentation is there.

Fancy doing me some for a price? Be better than what i can knock up in my shed probably lol

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Rich306 - 07-05-2013

So... A slight set back this morning on the way to Samass in greater London.
10 minutes into my journey and on the motorway my 6th gear shits itself!!!

That explains the shriek from the engine when I drove off this morning!!
Hopefully Matts gearbox from his Rallye is going spare so I can drop that in, might be able to also sort out my overly heavy clutch in the process.

Thankfully I made it the full 68 miles in 5th gear smashing my fuel economy.. Watch this space!

RE: Richies Project Rallye - ginge191 - 07-05-2013

Interesting! Love this car, such a tidy example! Give us a bell if you want to head out for some pics at all! Sure mark and Phil would love a mini meet !

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Rich306 - 07-05-2013

Yeah sure buddy. I will do!!
Try and sort this gearbox out first though haha!!

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Matt - 07-05-2013

My gearbox isn't spare Tongue it's going to Scott as I never bought it from him when I bought the replacent engine.

Also you never paypal'd me that money for the injectors and fuel rail!

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Rich306 - 07-05-2013

Thats because i didn't take the fuel injectors and fuel rail Matt Smile changed my mind as i didn't have the money available and asked Sam to tell you.
Other things took priority i'm afraid!

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Rich306 - 13-05-2013

So thanks to Samass for letting me use his axle stands, jack and copper grease amongst other bits, the gearbox is changed!! - credit to Niall for supplying a decent box. Much appreciated!!

I put new bushes in the box so my clutch feels light as a heavy feather!! Also the car feels a lot more responsive, amazing what a decent box does to change how the car drives.

Seems like the old one was definitely on the way out.

I've decided on the badge staying the same colour, it really has grown on me and suits the car down to a T.

As for future parts needed? Well I ruined one of the gear linkages, so after black silicone and a browse on the Internet later; I have decided I'm going to get the short shift kit.

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Rich306 - 15-05-2013

Finally got round to uploading more photos!

Gearbox change:

Today i set about using the hour or two of sunshine!
I put the 306oc stickers on, then installed the LED lighting for the engine bay, operated by switch when the bonnet opens i think it looks pretty neat!
Heres a photo of it in the dark:

RE: Richies Project Rallye - samass - 16-05-2013

And here's a pic showing rich doing most of the work lol

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Rich306 - 16-05-2013

Haha I think Sams involvement extended to holding the gearbox whilst I shovelled it in place/removing one balljoint! :p

RE: Richies Project Rallye - samass - 16-05-2013

Pretty much! I did a good job of supervising Tongue

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Rich306 - 16-05-2013

You did a fantastic job. Wink

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Matt - 16-05-2013

Love that pic!

RE: Richies Project Rallye - samass - 16-05-2013

Thought you might, two f*cked Rallyes lol

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Matt - 16-05-2013

Hahah yep! You'll miss it when she's gone haha

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Rich306 - 23-06-2013

Right, been a while since an update. I've been busy painting stuff and working.

Finally getting round to working on the Cyclones, i have a Slam panel almost ready and Subframe to paint also.
I've ended up with a list on what needs completed before French Car show in July:

Rear Badge Glued back on
Numberplates need replacing (ideally with pressed plates)
Power steering leak sorted
Strut brace repainting
Gearbox leak needs attending to
Engine oil leak needs to be traced.

Opinions on the new style of badge:

RE: Richies Project Rallye - Rich306 - 18-09-2013

Thanks to those of you who reminded me that i should really update my project thread!

It's been a fair while since i have posted anything of any real significance, a lot has been done to this since, i was in a huge rush to get it finished for FCS this year! Smile

Also took her on Track at FCS!! Big Grin

Things done:

Painted Strut brace (rather poorly)
Painted Alloys and got them suited and booted
Replaced leaky Power steering pipe
Painted a Rallye themed Bonnet badge
Replaced Starter motor
Redid the Earth points due to dodgy starting!
Posed on stage with the Lassa Babes at FCS :p

Now for photos:
[Image: 942155_634461163233404_1030862185_n_zpsf95b89a1.jpg]

A few things i'm disappointed with as they wouldn't go to plan, The alloys paint didn't turn out like i hoped so the Red is something i cannot see in the shine.
When getting the Toyo Proxie tyres put on, the guy balancing them took a chip out of the paint when bolting them in, the morning of FCS!

The strut brace needs redoing due to my crap effort, Rust is returning to the engine bay and i haven't got round to sorting out the jobs that need doing!

I sorted out the leaky power steering pipe, but that seems to be a lost cause now as i'm leaking from either the ram or a connection on the pipe.

Also traced the location of my oil leak to the Crankshaft seal!

Finding the time and money to sort some of these issues out are giving me a headache. Also the exhaust has a crack across the midsection 'box'.

So here is my list of things to do!:

Repaint Strut brace
Repaint badge (chipping away)
Sort out paint on alloys (A maybe on this one, might just wait till i get 16" alloys)
Repair power steering leak
Replace the Crank shaft seal
Get Top mount welded
Re-underseal car including under the fuel tank this time.
Sort out minor rust in Engine bay
Replace Exhaust
Service Due soon!
Lower car

Secret project no.1
Secret project no.2

I appreciate this seems a rushed update, but it's the most brief way i can possibly think of translating it to you lol!
