But does yours die at 3700? Like a brick wall, and mine smokes like gray/white instead of black

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - studturbo - 16-02-2012

I fort it stopped doing that when u did gov mod ?

Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 16-02-2012

Nope

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - mark_airey - 16-02-2012

No it doesn't ............... but after pulling up the revs in say 3rd and then changing up you notice a loss of power higher in the revs of 4th,

I doubt that an injector would cause it to stop revving though, it would miss all the time and smoke like f*ck (neither of which yours is doing as far as I am aware) if you had a stuck injector!

The smoke when its missing from a cold start at idle is like a white/grey sorta colour.

Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 16-02-2012

Mine dies in 2nd and all above gears, the knock noise seems to be comming from around injector one

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - Jacko - 16-02-2012

I have the exact same problem Kyle. My fuelling stutters after 3500 and the car jerks and holds itself back

I'm going to check for air in the fuel with an inline filter between filter and pump and see what happens

Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 16-02-2012

Mine dosent jerk though just goes flat.

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - Mattcheese31 - 17-02-2012

check EVERYWHERE for air . . . . . . .Smile

Went through this on the phone with him last night mate lol

Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 17-02-2012

Well injectors need changing anyway as they all leak lol, will put an inline filter on and check the fuel lines

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - mark_airey - 17-02-2012

I know that mate, as I said on the phone, if you can get hold of some easily then change them to be sure, have you got a clear feed pipe from the filter housing to the pump??

Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 17-02-2012

Nope

Temp fit one then, when its running look at the tube, if there is air getting in you will see bubbles in the tube Wink

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - Dan! - 17-02-2012

Even better idea, fit a bit of clear tube between the top of the filter housing and the pump which is like 3 meters long and run it into the cabin, and back to the engine bay, that way you can see if theres any bubbles while your driving it lol

Sounds a bit rediculous but that should work, yeah?

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - Jtrigga - 17-02-2012

Sounds like air in the lines had the same problem changed injectors cos I thought the same. Check your fuel filter housing and run a straight pipe off the grenade to the pump to try and see if that removes your problem.

Cantch tank fitted, black hoses are temp, going for blue ones.

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - Dave - 18-02-2012

That knock is literally cos your injecting lots of fuel, I bet it wouldnt knock if you only blipped the throttle a small amount.

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - londondan86 - 18-02-2012

Catch tank looks good, what size oil breather filter did you get?

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 18-02-2012

It's a 25mm filter.

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 18-02-2012

Right so ever since we did the head swap it's used water, had to top up every like 2 days, the lad i got the spare engine off said it started to use water, we both thought possible HG failure, which didnt matter as thats what would be getting done anyway, so head skimmed, new gasket etc, and its been using water ever since, so i reckon the heads cracked, so looks like my old head will be getting skimmed and the 2 holes for inlet to bolt to will be getting helicoiled, and another MLS gasket..

ahh well..

end of the month, new valeo clutch and 4 new bosch injectors, inline filter and some more fancy blue hosing for catch tank/filter.

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - Connor - 18-02-2012

Get the head pressure tested aswell as skimmed...

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 18-02-2012

I know that, didnt have this one done, no need to have my old one done, that never went or used water, just some threads for inlet were buggered.

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 22-02-2012

Going to try different injectors tommorow, see if it cures the shitty smoke.

Re: Stage 3 XUD project - padge - 23-02-2012

Removed injector one, to find it covered in metal filings..

Replaced it with another bosch injector and still smoking, going to remove this engine now and install another.
