my little t2 can make that noise far too easy
compressor surge from the turbo spinning up fast then shutting of the throttle as the turbo is still spinning fast and no where for the boost to go so comes back through the comperssor housing and stalling the spindle
sonds good antill the turbo snap's in half

Mine is the same,it is chatter off the turbo...But mine is side mounted and chatters like fook......sounds mint..

Shutting of the throttle? You understand the diesel principle yeah....

Also wastegates don't make any noise at all, apart from if its got a screamer pipe on... Which is just the noise of the exhaust...

yep but as the engine is starting to slow down there is less need for the air the turbo is trying to ram into it so it comes back through the turbo and gives the noise and yes the waste gate has nothing atall to do with the noise as you still get it with welded waste gates
