So the cheapestate...

Had a dw8, now has a xud.

There is spare wiring all over the place, ecu is still there.
Rev counter doesnt work.

It has a set of ph2 xud turbo clocks in it. No change.

The loom is a single small plug type which goes into the chassis leg n/s.

So the ph1 xud loom i stripped off a scrap car wont work...
Unlike in the racetractor which is same age but was a ph3 petrol.

Any ideas?
Ph1 engine loom is different, you need a Ph2 DT loom. Just don't use the second plug.
what timing tooth does the dw8 use? probably that is different or not connected

The dw8 uses a flywheel like the hdi with a ring next to starter ring and sensor ontop of gearbox.

But obv this has a xud gearbox with sensor on the back of the fly.

Oh really?

Doh. Ok.

Strange as I'm using a ph1 loom on the racetractor, no issues.

It is different, hence you need to use the ph2 XUD9 clocks for it to work. Sensor is also different, but when the looms are changed for a Ph2 DT, you get the right plug, uses same wires, but signal is diff.

There's multiple different types of Ph1 loom from memory, hence you can never be sure...
ah, 406 dt must use the same as dw8 then i guess as it has a crank sensor that works on a petrol motor too.

but with a larger clutch.
Correct yes as it has ECU controlled injection timing.
Ok...

So just in case someone else has sorted this or I manage to...

Ph2 loom is same as ph1... As i thought tbh.

Basically xud9 loom has 1 big chassis leg plug and one small one.
Dw8 engine loom has only one small plug.

Rpm sensor runs through the BIG xud9 loom plug...but no receiving end exists on this estate on the chassis leg.

Anyone have any ideas!?

(other than what i am trying to avoid but planning which is a lot of wiring splicing n bodgin)
if its ecu controlled the ecu probably supplys the pulse's for the dash to read RPM like the HDI
now you have killed the ecu and gone to XUD no pulses
Ecu still there and functioning I expect as it still is powered and controls fans afaik.

However...I know why it doesn't work...it has a xud in it! Xud has different sensor and flywheel/pickup!
Ok.
So wiring diagrams and a spare loom at the ready.
Found out the two wires are identical in code and colour for the plug for the sensor. So hoped and just wired it in. No change

Then began the idea to find the two wires which go to the clocks/dash. Then wire it in myself. (also tried spare set of clocks)
Issue is that although I am looking for "486" and "487" I can only find 487 and half the numbers arent even readable on the wires.

Any ideas?!
