Ok so the guy that may have fitted wrong size off ball joint on my car causing it break says that a new water pump with timing belt etc wouuld cost 240 to supply and fit is that a normal price cause the kits are around 50 quid any help would be appreciated
I'd say that was a bit much but last one I paid for was done at mates rates so yeah...
Well my mate said he will do it 100 if I supply the kit so iam going to ask around and see how low I can get it I have reduced it by 100 in a matter off hours dont see it going less but u never know
Sounds pretty cheap to me... Looking at £300+ for a cambelt and waterpump change round here on a HDi. Considerably more for a GTi6 as well. Though I realise you're in Scotland so prices may be completely different lol.
autodata book time for a cambelt is 3.8 hrs
with a water pump your looking 4-4.5

4.5 hrs x £40 = £180 labour + cambelt kit £60 + waterpump £25 + antifreeze £10

probably looking at £275 for the HDI cambelt change

the XUD book time is roughly the same but cambelt kits are slightly higher priced
