has anyone mounted a temp sensor in the intercooler for reasonably accurate charge temp readings?
and if so what are acceptable charge temps?
I have seen some for scoob's etc but v expensive pro kit.

I have one of those, not a pc one though just power by a couple button cells! Araldited the probe inside the fmic adapter Seems to work fine.
What sort of temps are/ were you running at?
With the weather atm when upto temp and driving 12degrees, I've seen it at 8 when i get in the car first thing in the morning.
That's a lot lower than I expected. Wonder what the temps are on a top mount with a K14 at 25psi. wanted to fit the gauge before the front mount to do a comparison but I'll need to bond the probe in so don't want to waste it.
Well when i wasnt running an intercooler atall, my charge temps were near 30 lol!

I have done a bit more digging and now aquired a ph2/3 clock with temp display and the outside temp sensor from a pasenger wing mirror.
Going to give that a go. will have a look at where best to mount on my tmic.
I would really like to measure temps with diferent set ups with the same boost & fuelling:-
1- tmic as stnd
2 - tmic with improved front grill and ducting (saggy bonnet matting must be crap)
3 - Custom ducting (poss scoop)
4 - finally fmic
tricky thing will be testing each one is same conditions. All sound v.scientific - and v interesting eh!
Maybe best to test them in summer? My topmount (i think) has been slowing my car down after the first couple of goes on full boost but now the temperatures have plummeted the car feels great pretty much all the time, especially at night when it's only a few degrees above zero. :-)
We ought to do a RR sessions when its snowing.
Pack the topmounts with snow, should work! ;-)

Not intending to be without ducting, but I'm sure it could be improved on?!
A good way to do it would be to have 2 one pre cooler and one after.
Obviously cheap temp sensors don't work very quickly during hard pulls but you an idea of what's going on.
I have seen 50 degrees on a hot day while boosting in low gears where there's not much flow. One thing I did notice was having a decent flow to the cooler like moving the number plate ect dropped it considerably.
