Hi, mates just bought a phase 2 lucas dt in an unfinished engine change state.

The engine was fitted with the pump attached from the previous car it was in and he is unsure how to get it going as the immobiliser/stop solenoid is stopping the car from firing. He hasn't had much luck with searching the internet as everywhere seems rather coy about giving immobiliser info away on the internet.

The pump is the type with the solenoid encased rather than the easier ones where it screws into the casing.

Does anyone know an easy way round this - can the solenoid/immobiliser be controlled manually by installing a switch with 'ignition live'?

He has the old pump on the old lump but wants to avoid swapping the pump over if possible as he hasn't got a day to spare removing belts and ancillaries.

Any help or advice much appreciated. Thanks
Angle grinder and cut the casing off to get at the solenoid?
Will that not render the pump useless or does that cover exist only to get in the way of potential thieves?
Dont think so, i mean im pretty sure thats how people do it. Havent seen a lucas pump for a while though. Is there not a wire coming out casing where the stop solenoid is?
Isn't there a live wire to the solenoid; similar to the Bosch?
Yeah, maul it with a grinder, be 'reet
You can cut the casing away, most people remove the immobiliser solenoid for a standard single wire one quick just screws in place of the old one, put ignition live to that and you away
Fantastic i'll tell him to get the grinder out then! Haha cheers chaps
