Yes yes, we should declare them all. To be honest though, with previous insurers i've been a bit... vague. Alloy wheels. Lowered. Erm.. you get the idea.

Well i've finally set up a bhp limited policy with Highway through Brentacre, and been sent the specialist vehicle report form. Gary, who's been processing it for me, said to list absolutely everything, how many pages is acceptable? lmao
I'd love to see the face of the person who receives the list!
I know right?

To be fair to him, he was genuinely interested and didn't realise the potential power of chronic XUD's, chatted for a while about them. I think his exact words were "lots of black smoke everywhere then?" to which i replied "why? would that invalidate my policy? ninja" lmao

It might be easier for me to just take a picture of the car and send it
Yeah, be thorough. I've been through this with them (although over the phone) and was surprised at what they wanted to know. For instance, aftermarket alloys wasn't enough... "Team Dynamics" "okay, what ones... Pro Race, 1, 2... ?" "Pro Race 3's" "what size?"... "OMP steering wheel" "what one?" etc etc...

Although they didn't care about listing my tinted fogs or stickers...

I had a good chat with the guy when I joined Brentacre, genuinely knowledgeable and interested, you can't fault it. Haha, I think a photo would be the only way of it making any sense... or it may just completely baffle them lol
See ive been on modified car insurance for about 5 years, maybe more now and most companies just want mods that fit their tick box so the list is pretty much always: alloys, lowered, bigger brakes, fmic, remap, air filter and exhaust pretty much covers it. Just gat a bhp limit set for the power mods and its all happy days.

Dont know why people dont declare them cos its cheaper if you do with a specalist
I know, Brentacre are £645 fully comp including their fees, policy from Highway is only £580FC. To put that in perspective, Co-op wanted £673FC on the standard car. I'm now insured like for like with the Garrett, XXR's, D2's, everything declared by name. Baffling.
Yeah, they really don't care. They gave me a 120bhp limit for nothing lol
I declared everything with my 6 conversion and I mean everything. Even down to the tuner wheelbolts and wind deflectors and phase 1 xsi seats. Very long list lol
Yeah he said to mention absolutely everything, even if PU bushes are fitted etc. Basically they just want a paper trail as in the event of an accident, an insurer can't then say "oh that sticker must have distracted everyone and caused that massive pileup, never mind the guy behind you was approaching at 50mph above the speed limit with spongy brakes"
TBH im suprised modded insurers dont ask for pictures.

Thing is though like with Pellowe it changes all the time.
...which means it still needs to be updated? Any changes need to be declared
Yeah, I might just set up a weekly payment plan of any admin charges lmao
That's the good thing about Brent, unless it effects power, no fees Wink

Another good point about Brentacre, no admin fees for adding mods, which will probably save you £42354208.99.
Ah awesome, didn't realise. I shall get typing then!

Thing is they should just accept email updates of mods.

First thing you do when you get new shinys is take a photo to show all your mates. If youve got a camera phone just email it straight to the insurers with your policy number (or make sure your VRM is in the pic) and tell them what youve done.

Updated, simples.

Would be awesome if it worked like that.
had to fill out one of these forms for Flux. They were a bit confused when i said it was going to be lowered in 2 weeks and an intercooler in a month! Apparently i have to tell them when its fitted and cant save time! Big Grin
Lol, they want you to phone up again...adds to thier phone bill. lol

I declared everything that I was gonna do when I changed the car....theyre hardly gonna penalize you for declaring extra mods! Confused

I wouldn't put it past them lol

But yeah, I'm with flux, can't fault them at all.
Im going to go with either brent or flux on my renewal due to all my mods. Admiral 'dont care' about the little things i do to mine but id rather EVERYTHING was recorded so if there was a crash, its all legit!
I've had to do this with the van...not quite sure where to start lol
It's best to declare literally everything, then you know it's all been declared properly.

Most companies are fine with adding cosmetic mods, but you need to declare as & when you add the mods.

As always, if anyone wants a quote, fill out the template & PM me it, I try to get back to them all within 3 days due to me doing it all in my spare time, but i've only had positive feedback so far Smile
Did you get my message JJ? I didn't know where to find a template though?
Tbh I can't fault Flux for my policy with regards to adding/removing mods. No admin fees etc there. But they didn't want to know what alloys I was swapping on, or what steering wheel or seats or anything like that??
And I'm still pissed off with them that they bumped up my policy by £250 for swapping to an identical car with identical modifications after my accident....

I'm sure I've heard it's just as bad to declare mods not on your car as to leave things undeclared. Thinking about it, I'm assuming it would be for fraud prevention, as you can say the car got nicked after putting £1,200 of alloys or whatever on it...

Oh well.... lol

Tbh, the last time I declared something AFTER doing it, the insurers changed thier mind about the mod....as it wasn't easily removable it ended up being undeclared, so I thought I'd be better declaring in advance, maybe not though.
Where can I get a quote template?
In the traders section. Its a sticky thread iirc. Big Grin
what do people say about pump modifications?
