I like to try and keep it OEM under the bonnet, the car seems happier with the new filter. doesn't seem so noisy and its more lively too.

I may be able to buy my exhaust for the car, the one I have had is on borrowed time! also
there is a NAD rover metro knocking about now, so I may need some help with the derv side of things, I can support him metro wise. The owner is going to do a Procta metro replica!

I think when the owner finds that out, He will drop the idea. he is wanting to restore it to factory, as the parts for these are not as easy to get hold of. remember I am into five years into my car.

And that's why metro shells suck, no parts Tongue
Still very nice though and would love to go for a spin someday so how it feels against the posh bastard

for one it will be a lot more lighter and quicker Tongue bit like a 106 gti or a saxo vts sort of thing, but more aggressive. ( coming from a mate who used to own a VTS)

sad thing is liam, we haven't had a north east meet for well over two years.
I am the only one now from the north east area I think.

funny you should say that, about noisy vvc mechanisms. when I had a chat to the EX works mg rover engineer, about the vvc mechanisms, he said you will be forever chasing that problem, Also long as the engine is pulling strong and gets regular services, he said don't worry about it.
power out put wise will be interesting, as my engine is a 160 block with the earlier mems system on. also the head has had a polish exhaust side of things too.
rust wise I would say the full car haha!

i thought id give this a quick update,
i have just managed to get hold of propper metro rubber mats for the car ( rare to find), and Austin Rover tax disc holder. also sorted out the alternator belt squeel at start up, but pissed off the tims sender unit for the oil temp, so thats going to be another job, but i may have an idea for that.

bought a few things off the bay of e, one little gem was the proper rover metro rubber mats, these are very hard to get hold now!
not bad for 20 quid posted!

also an Austin rover tax disc holder, to replace the cheap post office one. plus this adds that more OEM to the car tooSmile

the old one

my mate is scrapping his R25, so he gave me the manifold heat sheild off it
[Image: IMG01811-20131018-1303_zpsa7bbe8d9.jpg]
need to rob the bracket off the car, as that's still on the car.
hence why there is a bolt missing.
also while I was on the bay of E, I bought a better cowling for the 306, and one for the metro, not bad for 20 quid posted.
but a major disaster was ready to happen any time!
my bonnet release was taking a bit to open,
had a check and found this!
the connector is on by one strand of wire!!!
id have been f*cked if that snapped!
which it did when I removed the wire to fit a universal one, which turned out to be a failure,
so 45 quid from rimmbros for a OEM replacement one, as there are no metros up here,
that's on its way in the post.
part from that, the cars been great to drive, as I was using it for a bit, forgot how good the 306 was!

well my £45 quid bonnet cable came, now I have a working bonnet catch!

bit of a f*ck on trying to remove the handle in the cab, for the cable.
then my dad made up a bracket for the heat shield,

so that's now on fully and doing its job,

my shitty black berry sorry hahah,
yeah, just a few nice touches and few little bits pop up now and again.
I spotted a light protectors like what the 306s have, but they have been snapped up. I am still on the look out, if all goes well, I may buy my system from piper too.

a quick update,
while I decided to buy new wipers for the 306, I decided to treat the rover to some too,
[Image: IMG01834-20131030-1327_zps368dd974.jpg]

this car uses the same size wipers all round, so I have kept the two front wipers for spares for the rear. as the rear doesn't get used that often as the front wipers.

I bought a stainless steel heat shield to go on top of the manifold heat shield, to help push the heat down instead of up towards the bonnet.
sad thing is, its off set due to the custom bracket we made up on the right hand side. ( I will have to get the one off my mates car) but its doing the job and its on tight.

well this is off the road by the looks of it now,
took it out for its weekly blast, as I went to get some cat food,
I started the car up, and thought it was idling a bit high, though it could be down to the cold weather and dampness, half way thru my journey it was still idling a bit high, and been a little racey off the mark, it was up to temp, then it just settled it self down.
as soon as I got back on to the drive way, the car started to idle high, so I popped the bonnet, and heard the hissing sound coming from the inlet, so the inlet gasket has just bit the dust coming on to the drive.

Which inlet gasket? There's two isn't there one that connects the two halves or the one to the block?

its the one on the block steve, its hissing like hell, me dad, said check all the bolts in case, one of the inlet bolts have worked loose, failing that. its going to a pig of a job to do. as these are not that easy to get at, to dismantle.
I can buy the gaskets from lotus, which is what I would rather do anyway.
