Just ordered these bits up today, decided on 2.5" seeing as Tom pulled over 200bhp with his 2.5" system.

Also got 2 meters of 2.5" mild steel pipe from Mills for £22.90.

All in it's cost about £73 for parts and I'll probably need a few bends and some welding.

Probably not the cheapest option in the world but I'm happy.

Should be a doddle with all those nice bends Smile I got Tom to get 4 mandrel bends put into a 1m section and then had to guess where to cut them. It helped keep the cost down but wasn't as straight-forward. Is it going to be a straight thru?
After driving an Mi16 205 a few times and loving every minute of it I can imagine a diesel with 40+bhp more will be a fun experience!

I only got one 60* bend Paul, not four! The picture is just to illustrate what various sizes look like.

I'm planning to go straight through all the way until I get pulled over (like last time) then it'll end up with a cherry bomb or something unrestrictive on.

I can't wait, I know I shouldn't be looking forward to being unemployed but it means I'll have car time again!

Sure you won't be disappointed then. Toms sounds like it has sucked up a small pigeon too!

Just had a quick google and looks like the 205 system is pretty basic, shouldn't need too many bends Smile

Hah, should be fun!

That's reassuring to know! Hope being mild steel it doesn't rot too fast as it can get very wet around here!

Yeah, I work in the sales side.

I've removed a bosch from a scrap yard car before but never done a belt change or touched timing so would be nice to have someone hold my hand as I pop my first cambelt cherry. Blush

it really is very easy tbh, pin it all up and you can't go wrong.

the beam afaik was lowered by one of Dan's mates but likely to have been by notch, its a proper base model non arb type so I would budget for a full rebuild and find an arb for it.

Mmm, I'd like to get a 205/309 GTi beam on eventually but it's not something I'll be in a rush to do.

Drove it to the garage this morning, major difference in drive and power compared to the Datsun!! I also remembered I need rear seats in to pass as the rear seat belts are still in place.

I just asked them to give me a list of failures so I can take it away and sort everything out.

Think it's going to be a squeeze for the Xmas meet.. Hmm. TMI

Few pics of where she's sitting now!

Gave me a chance to look at the exhaust, think it's safe to say it's going to be a very simple exhaust route to fabricate. Down pipe, straight pipe, slight kink, straight pipe!

Yeah they said that!

It's blowing from the turbo elbow to downpipe. A good inch gap you can stick your finger in nicely. Wink

(21-11-2013, 01:34 PM)Frosty Wrote: Has it been MOTed yet?

It has had its pre-MOT MOT.

Quiet a few advisories e.g. no bump stops fitted, front brake hoses kinked etc.

Failure wise I'm really happy:

- Horn not working (will steal one off my spare 306DTub lying around)
- Washer motor not working (will steal one off my spare 306DTub lying around)
- Side repeater indicator not working (has fell into the wing, needs fishing out with a coat hanger)
- Rust patch/hole on drivers side rear floorwell (need to take drivers seat out, pull carpet out and they will weld a plate in)

I'd take it home tonight and crack on but have already agreed to being a taxi tomorrow so it'll have to wait until Sat evening after work with vue to MOT on Monday.

That leaves me 4 or 5 days before Xmas meet.. Blush

To low and you hit the subframe/arb, to high and you'll have gear changing issues! See how the original pipe goes round the gear stick area? :p

How come you put it through mot with a not working horn?

Not a bad list there, shouldn't take a couple of hours to sort. I'd suggest checking you've actually got a live feed to the horn and washer motor before replacing them, judging by my recent experience with 205 electrics lol. You might even find you can get the horn working again by giving it a few quick smacks while somebody holds the button down for you, fairy common problem on cars that have been sat.
