Bringing back the 306... I wonder if anyone is still here? Especially some of the old boys from the OG days?

Anyway, just got myself a phase 1 GTi in need of a lot of love and attention, starting with the heater matrix, which was a pig but is out. Next will be a new starter motor. Get it up and running before getting it MOTd

Supposedly about 10 of these left, in this colour in the country. Let's try and keep this on the road!

Finally have some time to make inroads in to tidying up one of my garaged 306's. Have cleaned up, treated & primed most of the boot floor. Still pondering how to tackle the bump stop mounts but beating them repeatedly with a hammer seems to have knocked most of the flakey rust off.

The few little rust holes at the back corners of the wheel arches & in the upper P/S wheel arch have been repaired (Sorry, don't have pics of all stages of repair). I'm not the greatest welder in the world and when I look back at the pics I can see it really isn't a great job. Tbf, I'm just glad I was able to achieve anything. I really didn't want to get in to having to deal with MIG gas & didn't have a whole heap of money to throw at a welder so got a small Clarke gasless one. If you read around most people say you can't weld thin body panels using gasless wire. A few say it is possible, with care. I actually managed half decent results when practicing with off-cuts, but that is generally ideal conditions. It's a different matter when you're cramped in the car boot & can't get the torch at the angle you really want or can't see properly when you start the weld.

All the settings on the welder are set as low as they'll go or it's super-easy to blow holes in the panels. That led to a lot of the welds being on the cold side but it's the only option I have really. I made it even harder for myself as I have no mains power at the garage & so have to use a generator. The output to the welder isn't totally consistent & so the arc isn't hugely consistent when welding either. I ended up with a few areas of slag inclusion, which could also have been user error tbh. Would have liked it to be better, but can live with it. It'll all get several layers of paint & a good covering of seam gloop so will hopefully last a while. If it doesn't hold up I might try using epoxy specifically designed for joining body panels. Anyone else tried it? e.g. Viking Thorflex 10 Two Part Adhesive 50ml – Viking Industrial Products Ltd (vikingtapes.co.uk)

Once all the bodywork is done I'll crack on with putting it all back together. There's a rebuilt beam to go on, new mounts, newly made cu-ni brake pipes, a new brake compensator valve & a few other bits. That'll have to wait until the Autumn tho....holiday first.
I’ve got a phase one 306 sedan bought as a shell and put engine in so I think this problem was in the car before I bought it. So the dash is haywire , full beam light is stuck on so is handbrake light left indicator light and the lights themselves are stuck constantly on(not flashing) and radio and some other things not working and not engaging starter motor, it’s sending a live through some of the earths aswell, when the wiper motor is plugged in, the frame of it is live as in positive power running through it then when I plug it out it’s earthed anyone have any ideas?

I have a 1.6 306 platinum thats a bit beat and will become a project as soon as i buy my wife a new daily driver.

My father in law has a 607 rotting in the garden with a good v6 engine, suspension, wheels, brakes, etc.
My hope is to convince him to give up on the idea of paying the lein and restoring it (it had 2 inches of water sitting inside it last rainy season, its not worth it...) and letting me cut it up and put it all in the 306.
I'm a custom motorcycle builder and have a full shop so my only cost is my time and beer for my friends.

From what ive read, it will need some engine mounts and the wiring will take some patience.
Im wondering if anyone has swapped the whole front end from one pug to another? might be tough to adapt, might be impossible, please advise me.
Would be good to swap across the suspension, brakes and wheels at minimum.

Anyway ive got a full donor car and all the tools i need. Looking for any tips, details, or warnings!!!

Thought it's about time to start a thread in the forum proper. Still not got piccies (running theme with me, always forget but Emma has a couple I think, will try get them up sometime) but red cab has been partly stripped today. Rear beam is off ready to go on the 5dr, few other odds n sods like lights put in the garage as spares, instrument cluster lens/indicator stalk/stereo and passenger window reg swapped over to the green cab.

Then we went for a ride up round Buxton as it was a nice day, if I've got any energy left tomorrow it'll be the 5dr's turn to drop it's axle & then they will be swapped between cars (seized one bolted on the red cab to keep it moveable). Be nice to have suspension on it lol, might be tempted to lower it a bit though as it looks good with the wheels tucked in the arches a bit. Will have to see how it looks with the 'clones on though as they ought to make it look better on their own compared to steelies with ebay special trims.

You've had the Jekyll, now its time for Mr Hyde [emoji28][emoji28][emoji28]

Not sure how much oc is used anymore but always enjoy a good build thread.

So if anyone remembers the old red hdi estate i ended up breaking it to persue buying a 205 gti... Which ended up becoming a rottern nightmare [emoji28] tried to save it but with shift changes etc at work and other commitments i just didnt have the time anymore.
So going back i ended up having to buy a daily, tried a 206 gti 140 for a while (hands down the worst Peugeot ive ever driven!), then swapped up yo a 307 1.6 hdi and just couldnt find my mojo.
Randomly got a msg from a good friend who had picked a 306 estate up destined for scrap and offered me it for £200 with ticket still. Knowing the cars well i jumped straight on it for a daily.
Car was a 1.9 dw8 Lx with a sunroof

First thing on the list if jobs was to sort and tidy up the front end. Id always wanted to make a ph1 estate so as far as i saw it i had my perfect excuse. Managed to source a white front end from a poverty 5 door.

Ended up smashing the old ph2 headlights up for the plugs to make the headlight conversion looms and had to temporarily zip tie the ph2 expansion bottle [emoji28]

Had to make do with the ph2 bumper for a while as finding a Gti6/dturbo was proving difficult. In the end managed to buy two at a bargin price and sell one on. Popped to my local paint store and had some 2k rattle cans made up to colour match the bumper

Next was wheels and lows. The modular steels were always a signature look for my old car so i seeked out somthing similar and ended up with some 10j extreme offsets

Cheaped out on coilovers and went for a poverty spec set of fk's from a 206 just to get the front low

Took the car too my mates where we got the wheels on and machine polished the car to correct the seemingly matte white paint

Hello all! New member Ollie here from sunny Somerset. I bought myself a granny spec low mileage example of the 306 sedan back in late 2018 and have recently been modifying it. I love trawling the internet looking at other people's projects and have decided to make my own, hope you enjoy!

My first purchase was a phase 1 dturbo front bumper, I don't have any pictures of the bumper when it arrived but it was an absolute mess! Full of dents, nasty scratches and missing brackets for the fog lights and the nearside bracket to hold it onto the car. Get what you pay for I suppose! It was also the wrong colour so I went about a respray.
Swapped the brackets over from the old bumper using strong glue and a couple of short screws for good measure.

Not much to the story currently, bought my 306 5 years ago and the gearbox failed around 2 and a half years ago. Since then it's been sat doing nothing while life got in the way. I bought Piggys XUD motor he had for sale and I will be using that as a replacement instead of just replacing the gearbox. With any luck I will make some progress this year, already sorted all the suspension and brakes out but I might change the rear beam to a xsara VTS or similar at some point but generally I'm happy with handling and brakes.

Anyway this is how it sits currently, want it to look rough on the outside so I'm not tidying the exterior up apart from the roof rails. I'd like to get them tidied up and painted black.

New to on here guys so here goes lol, have owned the little yock just over 4 years now, but finally have got myself together and have started making some progress in tearing the car apart!

First my aim is to have a the vnt setup, gearbox mounted and the rest of the engine work carried out and finished before I start any sort of body work / paint work! The turbo I have choose is a 2.5 Nissan pathfinder turbo, GT2056V, which will require some fabbing work for pipe work as the cold air inlets just ain’t the standard hose and clamp type!

Hoping to have the manifold made up in the next few days, so I can figure out what way the turbo’s is going to be sitting exactly!

I have bought a head gasket kit, as I will be sending the head away to be skimmed, then bolted down with some fresh arp’s, does anyone have the code to the ones used? I cant seem to find it anywhere!

So far the car already has;
R70 pump
076 injectors
S13 FMIC
Battery relocated
I have the 1800 1.6 fuel rail sensor here, never fitted it as it needs mapping in, and for the sake of that I would rather wait until I have it all finished at once!

Some pics of her in her own flesh through its times lol!

Engine is currently out thank god, not as bad as you think, easy enough gotten out!
