I have a 2000(V) black 306 XS 1.8 16v (see profile pic). All original and owned since less than a year old and only done 55k. She's never needed any major work and still runs like new. Changing circumstances mean she is hardly being used now and I don't have anywhere off-road to keep her so it (might) be time for her to go.

I'm not sure how to value such a vehicle. Are the XS models desirable? And are these sorts of vehicles going up in value or is that wishful thinking?!

Hello,
my name is Peter, living in Austria/Vienna.
A few months ago I bought a really cheap Peugeot 306 Cabrio 1996 1.8l machine, Saint Tropez edition.
In the meantime I learned a lot about this car and luckily fixed many bugs and failures.

A fault I cannot classify is the meaning of the following error codes

# 34 Canister Purge Electro-valve
and
# 52 Self-Correction Richness Regulation

as I didn't find a - for me - meaningful translation for these expressions.

Hopefully someone can explain!

Many thanks in advance and best regards
Hi all,
I've become a French car nut over the last 8 years since I bought a very nice 2000 306 XS phase 3.
It was supposed to be my sons car but he's too tall so it became mine.
It's a UK import with currently only 58k miles on it.
Since then I have also bought a Renault R25 GTX and a R21 TXI but my new project is a 97 306 Phase 2 which I have discovered has the N homologation tags in the boot.
This car was imported from Japan as a 306 Style with a XU7 JP4 engine.
This engine was removed by a previous owner who also removed all the wiring harness with the help of some wire cutters. No, I'm not looking forward to 12 hours of soldering to fix that mistake.
I have now got a XU10J4RS and 6 speed box which will be slotted in once I have the wiring, roll cage, race seat and suspension sorted out.
Any suggestions on some go faster goodies that don't break the bank will be appreciated.
As a side note, through my work we do the 24 hours of LeMons race here in the Shakey Isles currently in a Renault R21 Turbo. Pic of that added to show we're completely mad.
Thanks for letting me join and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello, thanks for accepting my membership.
Last week, my very last customer from my Peugeot/Citroen garage that I ran until the early 2000s, unfortunately passed away I believe that he must've been the oldest Peugeot 306 driver in the UK, possibly the world? He was 96 and was driving up until the 2/4/21...
I have known him since the mid 1990s and have done all of his repair work to his two 306 diesels. Both were XUD non-turbo. To my surprise, I have inherited his green, near-immaculate 5dr diesel 306. He bought it nearly new in the late 1990s. Other that the odd flat battery, heater plug, it has never - not once - failed to start or complete a journey in its 20-odd years...
A couple of years ago, we went mad and replaced every bit that had the slightest bit of age with mostly genuine nos parts.
As I have a few cars: a mint XUD N/A Xantia diesel, an excellent BMW E36 Touring and my late father's K12 Micra, I am at a loss which to sell. I've just bought the 306 some new twin-tube rear KYB Shocks for a tenner each and a thermostat for less than two gbp. I will keep you updated with pics and more bits...

Hi, thanks for letting me join the owners club
I’m from North Wales UK.
I’ve had 3 Pugs, a 309 diesel which I loved, ended up being a write off in an accident.
A D turbo 4 dr, with the 1.9 indirect injection engine, loved that.
And my present car being a 2001 2.0hdi Meridian estate, which is fantastic as I have dogs, and inlaws which use wheelchairs.
Looking forward to using the forum.
Got it cheap and I’m fairly handy so I’m going to see what I can do with it! Fun car so far..

Hi,

Firstly apologies as I am not a 306 owner however I am a owner of a XUD9 TD which i have fitted into a Suzuki Jimny. My reason for joining this forum is to learn more about this great engine and to get some assistance with a number of niggles I am having. In return I will offer any help I can.

The engine I have wasn't pulled form an old 306 or even a Peugeot. It was an engine that Suzuki had used to marry up with a Suzuki SJ gearbox and put into a Suzuki Samurai. I retrieved it when this vehicle was in an accident and written off.

Since then I have rebuilt the top of the engine and replaced the pistons, here was the first difference I noticed from a stock XUD. the pistons I had have a cut away in the skirt. I can only assume this is to increase the oil splash on the cylinders as the engine is now in line rather than a transverse set up. I had to send the pistons away to be modified as I was unable to find anything off the shelf.

externally the engine doesn't have any of the cold start links to the cooling system which I think is a bit of a shame as there appears to be a number of electric connectors going to waste in the housing I'm guessing where the thermostat is housed. It looks like some sort of cap is missing from mine but I might be wrong.

It had the Lucas pump fitted which I now have changed for a Bosch pump which in turn allowed me to connect the vacuum pipe from the turbo to the diaphragm which was originally blanked off. I have also fitted Bosch injectors as I believe these operate at a higher PSI and match the pump better.

That all said I am having a lot of issues with starting and the engine cutting out. I think it might be air in the system but I am struggling to find the cause.

I would also like to check whether my pump and injectors are actually compatible with this engine so any part numbers would be appreciated.

I am situated in Sheffield

Anyway that's who I am and why I'm here. I look forward to speaking with some of you over time.
