Wife's 306 XSI won't start. I suspected fuel (about the only thing I've gotten correct thus far) and it started with some fuel down the inlet.

Some googling and Aussie Frogs told me it was either the pump or the relay. I powered the pump up and it sounded OK.
Am I right to make my next step a fuel pump relay replacement?

But why wouldn't it start with the pump running from a jumper battery?
It's doing my head in.

Thanks once again.

Hello everyone,

I haven't driven my car for 2 years and it was waiting for paint, then the work was done and I took my car back.

But the heater fan works non-stop.

First, I looked at the fan relay, it was clean, but I still bought a new green relay, I installed a new fuse, then I bought a 6441A1 (resistor unit), but it still continues to have full power.

Where should I look?

Does it affect the interior temperature sensor (6445AJ)?

the panel lights are working.

A/C and interior cover open and close are working

I removed the brown socket going to the fan and measured it with a multimeter, when I change the fan speed, the volts change, when it is at full speed it is 7.45 v, when it is off (I know it is not fully off ) it is 11.36 v.

I think this means the panel's signals are correct.

But I don't understand why the fan speed doesn't change. I have 2 fan modules, 1 is magnet, Marelli and the other is Sagem, but nothing has changed in both of them, they are still full power.

I just connected the module without connecting the fan and measured the black and red cables that will go to the district fan with a multimeter.
When I changed the fan speed setting on the panel, the V at the module output did not change.

I need some advice where I should look.

Note: The dark brown cable with its empty counterpart at the very end of the panel socket seems to have melted a bit.

At long last mil light problems sorted and very nearly ready for mot.

Checked lights, no brake lights arghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Quick scan on here it is possible to gain access to the switch via the air vents ??

Gonna take the Speedo out so I can see in that area a bit better then take out the dash central and drivers side vents...wish me luck.

I was thinking of taking the whole steering column off and out of the way ??

Else it the whole frigging dash off arghhhhhhhhhh......

Could anyone shed some more light on gaining access to the switch ?

According to info I have fuse 5 is the fuse for that circuit. What else does that fuse protect please ?

The cabin fuse board seems to have a date, early 1999...12/02/99 ?

Seems to be a 28 fuse fuse box ?

Other numbers by the date are 9635529180 and 28918...

I can post a picture but it may be a bit fuzzy, taken by an internet phone.

Just been given a 1999 306 1.8 16v GLX hatchback but it has a problem with broken wires at the door hinges resulting in the central locking bouncing. I've seen on a number of sites that you can bypass the auto unlock feature but I'm not sure which wires I need to bridge.

The posts that I've seen are for a GTI which seems to have a different control unit with different connectors and wiring colours. The controller unit which I have located under the clock on the centre console is a CPH08 by Texton and the black connector block has 15 pins.
Anyone know which pins I need to bridge or what colour the wires are. Cheers, Andy

Howdy guys, big noob here, I just picked up my 306 cab as a first car, mostly happy with it so far but there's one glaring issue besides the obligatory faulty convertible system. I tried installing a fairly old Sony stereo and was shocked to discover a drained battery the next time I started up the car. The system appears to always be on unless I disconnect the radio, and the adapter socket appears to be constantly outputting power aswell. I used a very cheap wiring harness adapter from the black and white of the 306 to the single 5 pin harness of my Sony stereo. Any advice on rejigging the wires would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys,

I've been struggling with multiple problems with my 2000 306 1.4 petrol. I'm an amateur mechanic, and wiring is certainly not my specialty. Problems ranged from a faulty wiper motor, faulty ventilation motor, radiator fans turning off and on irregularly... Also, problems with running while cold (stalling!), irregular idle especially cold, but also moving between like 600-1400 when it returns to idle... I'm starting to think it's to much issues to easily solve, but I still like the car and it still looks pretty good for its age...

Now, after acquiring a multimeter to test some sensors, I found out the sensors itself seem fine, but voltage to different sensors is zero/low? Including green and brown coolant temp sensors, which could explain cold start and fan issues? Also idle control valve(is that the right term??), map sensor.. Haven't tested every sensor, but others do have stable 5v, the blue temp sensor, tps.. Could there be a common point in the harness broken or something? Ground issue somewhere? Something I'm missing?? I did check grounds just below the battery but don't no where to find the rest?

Any tips.....?

hi, need some help with my 306 1.8 petrol. Its a phase 3, X reg. Been standing for a few years. Cranks but wont start. diag wont read properly. says vehicle not responding. fuel pump primes on ignition, dashboard works. rev counter movess a bit from zero while cranking. and can smell fuel when it cranks. not getting spark but look like there is some power to the coil harness plug. Peugeot main dealer recently programmed the key but also said something would scan properly. but the key programming was succesful. Any ideas??

Hey guys, new to the forum but not the 306.
Had the car since 2003.
306 1999 1.6L petrol
Only has 36k miles on.
A little while ago I changed the battery and since then I've had issues, once replacing the battery car won't start... I have spark but no fuel. Engine will run on easy start tho.
I've replaced the fuel pump relay, crankshaft sensor(as it was on its way out) then I changed the fuel pump, once done this it ran for about a month, now I have the same issue, won't start as no fuel delivery and can't hear the pump running.
Anyone had the same issues or any ideas?

Chris

Apologies if in wrong section.
