Friday :
So set off with the plan to meet tom at fcs camping.I Got stuck on the a14 for nearly 2 hours in 33c heat.As i got nearer to donnington the car was making a odd sticking noise,as i putted over to check, getting out of the car i noticed it was actually the road which had melted !

So We ended up camping in the quieter camping area with kent and his mate ryan.We went to find a pub and watch football so was'nt there to long.

Saturday: Got on stand which was far left as you enter the main gate.Bascailly tucked in the corner.I didnt partically mind this as if i had to do any work on the car there would be plenty of space to do so.

track time was 13:00-15:00.So we got briefed then hired helmets giving us enough time to look around the show. People have commented about size/quility of the show saying it was worse that prevous years .but it's always been about seeing friends and tracktime to me,so i wasnt fussed.

So are 2 hour open pit starts.because i was to lazy i decided to drop my trye pressures after my 2 sighting laps.Took it to the nankang garage and psi in the fronts was 43!! Whoops.

So dropped them off, went back out for 6-10 laps the tryes where holding a constant 29 psi which i was happy about.I got talking to a 24 eundurance driver who (for free) came out with me.ended up being a 20min tuturional session for free.

I think tom will back me up in saying the differences between laps after this was day and night, my braking was later, turning in and apexing constantly.we got decent passes and even had a clio 220 who didnt have to pace to keep with us.Also a massive bonus we probably put in 30 laps and no black flag.i did have a slight side ways moment which put into the green(which later found out in loss a wheel weight)
But apart from that the 6 did another faultless perfomance.

So the annual Christmas meet finally happened. Bates was first to arrive with Sam (Eeyore) being third to arrive finding Chris (Dum-Dum) stuck at a height restriction in the lifted ranger. Just the spotlights up top that were touching so a 13mm socket later we were under. Tom (Orta) arrived and we all set off in the Touran to Hungry Horse down the road in search for the cheapest pints. Ash (HoboAsh) joined us 20 minutes later.

Many burgers were consumed followed by some massive desserts. Back to the room to play mario kart into the evening before bed.

Saturday morning came which saw us fuel up and get breakfast from Aldi. We headed off on a drive from Coventry along Fosse Way to Rugby where we parked up in a park before Sam revealed that there was a good scrapyard hidden behind a hedge.

Into the scrap yard we went. No 306s but a limited edition loeb C2 and a rover for steve. Also found this subaru which must have been fitted with a genuine scoop! The search proved fruitful. Sam got a expansion tank cap for the Saab and we also acquired two CDs. Pure Garage Reload and "In the Car - Summer 2016 Caz XX" which was a wonderful mix CD. Both were played for the remainder of the drive.

One tunnel photo opportunity later we smashed back along Fosse Way before heading past Warwick and into the Country Side. We stopped as there were bricks in the road. Sam cleared the road by throwing them into the hedge whilst the owner of said bricks was trying to put them back into the trailer. Sam thanked him for his help which must have come across as sarcasm. After finding some hills we turned back and went through Warwick and drove past the castle and through town where we spoke to a dog whilst in queuing traffic. Finally we hit the motorway and returned in time for lunch at the brewers fayre.. .

Lunch smashed it was a matter of waiting out the afternoon for Bash and Lu to arrive. Chris Whipped out the ranger for some car park drift action. We all had a go before returning to a room where we watched Kung Fury and smashed more mario kart. Tom and Sam battled it out for first place whilst Ash, Chris and Sam fought for 3rd.

Lu and Bash finally arrived and we set off in search of food. Frankie and Bennies was full so we ended up back at the Brewers Fayre. Crackers cracked and food eaten we headed off for the inaugural 306oc christmas bowling competition. One lane, two games. Well done to Tom! Many rounds of pool was also played with some classic stealth bums witnessed. Back at the Premier Inn we found lots of "caravanners" had descended on the car park so we moved all the cars round the back under CCTV. As the hotel was full we also took out the meeting room and played "sh*thead" and cheat until 2am. A quality banterous evening.

The morning came and there was a final stint of mario kart whilst everyone assembled. As tradition goes we all headed over to frankie and bennies before driving home. On the way back Sams Rallye popped a few flames and took on a Fiat 500 Arbath much to everyones amusement.

The weekend of the September 9/10th saw 306oc members arrive at the small seaside village of Felixstowe Ferry. Located East of Felixstowe itself its a small settlement right on the mouth of the River Deben. Parking organised, beach party area organised, camping organised, a pub and several cafes and all within sight of each other!

The meet kicked off earlier than expected with Allie and Steve coming down from Manchester on friday afternoon. Obviously this was in Allies DS3 as steves rover would never make it further than the nearest headgasket shop. Toms306 also attended! A lovely double rainbow greeted them all and remained whilst we pitched tents. Following this Sam took everyone on a "lovely" historical tour pointing out the various old buildings and boats and where deaths had taken place over the years. Also showed steve what a real headgasket looked like in my speedboat which was meant to be working for this meet but unfortunately wasnt following snapping a valve spring two weeks prior.

Tents and tour complete it was time for some booze shopping. Trip out to Morrisons and some rubbish directions saw us in some random estate with a gang of topless youths running across the road. Luckily they knew that Allie and a DS3 werent to be messed with. The bumper was hanging off, obviously this car had a reputation for hitting things so they stayed well out of the way!

When we returned to the ferry it was raining so as per plan B we retired to the sailing club for dinner and several rounds. Sam left for a sailing meeting of some kind whilst the others started "the sesh". Meeting done Sam was down to find some catching up which of course he had no problem catching up as he was a top lad who could down all the pints. Bates also arrived but in a clio... He was kayaking in the morning so had to be up at 6 but being a true 306 and gamecube enthusiast he stayed till 1am. Waiting and outdrinking the sailing club members proved to be tricky however come 11:30pm the club was empty and the TV was acquired for use of 306oc mario kart double dash (obviously). Sam won, everyone else lost. Standard.

Saturday morning ended up being breakfast at the Sailing Club before setting the club flags up. A few wooden blocks and many rubbish cable ties later they were precariously balanced enough to have some expectation that they would still be upright when we got back.

We drove up the A14 to meet Ash who had got there first. We also waited for Bish who bailed on the meet (and his chances of winning the newbie of the year award). 12:30 came and we set off smashing the Suffolk country side. Windy and narrow roads through Coddenham followed by some ice ups and downs and long straights all the way through Clopton and on to Wickham Market. This didnt take long so Sam asked the group if they were okay with doing more driving than the original plan. Lu also took paracetamol as the fumes from the Rallye were on top form as always.

Smashed the roads through Rendlesham forest and through to Butley before going onwards to Bawdsey Quay. We showed Ash where we were camping (the other side of the river) which was only 100m away... but to actually get there it would be another 20 miles of driving. Teas and coke were consumed before heading off again to some WW2 buildings for a quick bit of Urbex and dabbing.

Smashed the drive back and only had to turn the whole convoy round once. Went through the old streets of Woodbridge with their tall buildings and let off some pops and bangs like any responsible adult would. Back on the A12 southbound before taking the backroads from Martlesham to Felixstowe. We all parked next to the flags which were still upright and set about sesh 2 in the Ferry Boat Inn. A pint of sesh later we left for minigolf. I dont think anyone was particularly a winner but Harry Putter was a magical golfing experience.

Bash joined us whilst Steve played "Tank Tank Tank" which seemed the worst way to spend £1 ever. Also played some drum game which saw us all singing along for some weird reason. Back to the ferry! It wasnt raining so half of us setup the burning bin and speakers on the beach whilst the other half went to go and get chips. The fire was lit and food was consumed before sesh 3 began. Sesh 3 went into the early hours before retiring to tents.

Sunday morning came and Steve was relieved that for a second night in a row nothing had been stolen and the DS3 still had wheels. Something about the north. Tents were packed away which took longer for Sams tent as seen at every meet ever. Bash and the Abbotts headed off whilst Lu, Sam and Ash grabbed breakfast before a quick walk up the coast and then being distracted by an impromptu classic moped meet. Lu and Ash left and then there were none and it was all over!

With only a few days to go before French Car Show members were shocked to see that the club had been thrown in with smaller clubs and we hadnt been allocated a stand. Mark Dow however managed to sort this out after we explained our numbers were greater than he had anticipated we were allocated a stand in the trade area. Never before had a club been merged with trade.

Preparation started with members cleaning their cars the night before and the East contigent met at 4pm at Bury St Edmunds before grabbing food and driving to camp arriving shortly after 7. A shoutout from Mista Jam covering Greg James' Dance Anthems also gave the club a shoutout after I texted in which was a great start to the weekend. By the time we arrived Orta had been there for a few hours on his own and had picked a prime camping spot. Everyone else arrived several minutes later. Erections came first before roasting meat over the burning bin washing machine drum that Bash and Lu had brought along.
Team Wales who were camping next to us didnt seem to have come across the internet before and wielding old nokia phones they joined us under the magnificent 306oc marquee as it began to rain. They bought a lamp which everyone was very jealous of and is apparently now they next thing for the club to buy because obviously people are incapable of bringing the right equipment camping. Standard sing along to tenacious D tribute whilst being interrupted by airplanes which didnt stop all night.

Now for possibly the most remembered part of the show. At approximately 2:30am Sam Bates decided to have a nightmare. Luckily it was a 6 man tent and I wasnt too close as he started tossing wildly screaming at the top of his lungs. "Sam what the f*ck are you doing?" followed by kicking him to wake him up followed by him not knowing where he was trying to attack me as I shouted "ITS SAM, WE ARE AT FRENCH CAR SHOW, WE ARE CAMPING!"... telling everyone the story the next morning wasnt needed as everyone had been woken up by the trauma and had heard literally everything.

Morning came. Showers were decent. Onto stand yet more erections as the club flags and banners went up using Rover steves wheels to ensure they didnt fall over and hit any cars. The stand was fantastic. we had both the front and back of one row which meant that everyone was front row. A great selection of cars with a majority of 306s which was nice for a change. Several ZXs, 205s, 405, a DS3 and unfortunately a rover made the numbers up to about 18 cars. Obviously the 205 which dropped all its coolant was at the front of stand and drew the most attention as people tried to fix it. Even dum dums XUD converted Hdi 3 door grabbed some attention presumably only down to the multicolored boost pipes. Cars all clean, spec sheets on display and it was time for a walk around the show.

The main area at donnington is tarmacced so not being grass like castle combe or pugfest its remarkably hard not to just see it as a massive car park. It was great to see some proper track weapons around and to see lots of classics rather than bought not built meganes and clios that dominate the scene and the limited imaginations of the youth of today. As per tradition the club jumped on the free dodgems for two sessions of light hearted bumping seeing as despite being asked the operator decided to limit the speed to 0.5mph. Great to see max power styling making a return as well!

Most of the club was out on Session B (1.30 to 3.30) and being the most hardcore track enthusiasts we were the first in the queue. Straight into the pit lane. At the front. Boom. sorted. We will be first out. Apart from the two loads of sighting laps which saw the second group who joined the queue later stay out on track. 50 slots were sold in this track time yet 66 cars were on track and in the pits. People were sneaking in or had simply joined the wrong session. Sort it out Donnington! It took 30 minutes to get out on track and every time we came in it took 20 minutes to get out again!

The biggest issue by far with track was that there was no static noise test at 4k rpm as with most circuits. It was a drive by noise test and funnily enough wide open throttle at 7.5K is slightly louder. This saw me being black flagged on lap two with bates and half of the other drivers coming in shortly after. two strikes and youre out was the rule which was unfortunate for bates who only lasted another 20 minutes before his two hour session came to a close along with a smashed windscreen from a stone thrown up on track.

Passenger rides galore and those who werent passengering were cheering on from the pits. Some decent overtakes on saxos and c2s by pretty much everyone. What had been hyped up for weeks before hand was the battle between me and rover steve. MG ZR vs Rallye. Unfortunately this never really got anywhere. I overtook as Steve let a faster car past which doesnt really count however everyone was pretty aware of the fact they could be "rovertaken". Much like the ice caps melting everyone was aware it was a thing but wasnt really that bothered about it. Also much like the ice caps melting its going to be an extremely long time before it actually happens, if ever.

Track took its toll on pretty much all the cars that day. Bates smashed his windscreen. My rallye had no seals on the dipstick so blew all its oil out over the engine bay which put an end to my session. Toms ZX dumped all its oil either in the pits or track. Matts £350 rallye despite not going on track dropped its coolant probably just in fear that it may be abused in more ways than just chronic laquer peel. Even steves rover which seemed to be reliable later was found to have eaten through its arch liners and ABS cables because of steve being a nonce and buying NS2Rs that were too big. The one car that did go on track and was totally reliable was Pauls 405. A mightly low miler with possibly all of its 90 horses still intact showed the big boys absolutely nothing apart from how comfy a track day could really be. It was a majestic sight and watching from the stands it was truely an experience not to have my ears bleed when a car sped (wafted) past.

Stand packed down we all retired to the campsite. Discussions over whether to go out for dinner resulted in a second evening of BBQing. Bash, Lu, me and Matthew (No.5 as apparently this is the worlds most popular name) went to the local supermarche where we purchased a variety of burgers, breads, sweets and 1L of oil to get the rallye home. We had the BBQ, sat around the fire and took the wee out of bates some more for his night terrors before spoilsports arrived and told us we had to put out the fire. Conveniently that took forever to go out and as numbers dropped and returned to their tents I decided to bring out my DJ talents with some classics and more modern progressive trance house alternatives.

Sunday morning came and we were all thrilled that we had tickets to the VW show. "I love rims and air and I never want to go home" were the exact words that bash used. We parked outside and wandered in. It was amazing to see so many Mk7 golf Rs all in the same bluey purple (official colour name). Truely a testament to how thick their owners wallets were. This beetle really stood out.

After wandering around the stock audi TT stand and the stock golf stand we came across Jessies Jetta from the Fast and The Furious. Thats the first film not the eigth. We wandered round to the first corner and watched some german metal pootle around the track in a very uniform unexciting fashion before going our separate ways.

So to sum up FCS this year? Fantastic Stand, Fantastic Track, Fantastic Camping, Fantastic People. Dont share a tent with Bates. Once youve done £20 worth of queuing you will break your car on track. Washing machine drums cook food the best.

Big thanks to everyone who made it possible. Ive sent our appreciation to Mark Dow and roll on next year! Thankyou to all the new people who came along and to those lurking members who came out of the woodwork for the first time. Think I met most of you and hope to see you at the next show and the christmas meet!

Sunday the 18th of June came around quickly. Too quickly for bash to have Queeny the phase 1 kingfisher dturbo ready for action. With tickets prepaid and the stand booked we ended up with two spare spaces, one where a member was uncontacable and never arrived and secondly where DumDum was completely incapable of correctly setting an alarm to get up earlier enough to make the trip.

For those who had remembered and were able to release themselves from their duvets we rocked up at Bashs house at 9am. Orta was the last to arrive and since last show season the black steelies were now blue, the new and upgraded rear beam was higher and the new front shocks were extremely low. So low in fact that the slight hump of country roads was too much and almost certainly resulted in membership of splitter scuffers.

A quick trip to the local tesco (other supermarkets are available) to stock up on snacks and factor 50 sun cream for what was bound to be a rediculous day. Orta was in the middle of the group so immediately after leaving tesco the convoy was split up into two whilst a moderate speedbump was navigated. Arrival at Nowton park resulted in lots of queuing. The temperature gauge hit 90 and I waited for the OMEX ECU to trigger the fans into life. 100 came and went and they still hadnt come on however what did come on was the stop light. It wouldnt be a proper car show if the rallye wasnt broken in some kind of way!

All parked up and leaving windows down (because there were better cars to steal) we walked around the show taking in the sights of what other people had decided to dedicate their lives and money to either restoring or fitting lexus lights to. "Rims and Air" was the standard amongst the audi and vdub fraternity.

Having seen the show we headed for food. Burgers, chips, drinks all purchased at vast expense. Lu even enjoyed a foot long (for the second time that morning - apparently).

After eating we went on hunt of shade around the rest of the park. Joe chose where we sat as he knows a lot about grass. We also went around the maze where I definitely didnt just walk through several of the walls.

Next up we all trekked off to see a giant panda which turned out to be only slightly larger than lifesize. But a good photo opportunity none the less.

Following this we returned to the cars, got some group photos and drove through the tape into the public car park in order to leave early. For anyone attending the show in the future definitely get your icecream from the park cafe as its way cheaper and there is also a super cold tap so you dont have to buy bottles of water. Also be sure to actually take what youve bought off the counter unlike bash.

Another early start and all aboard the misfiring rallye for the 300 mile drive to Donnington Exhibition Centre where Performance French Cars were holding their 3rd expo. The event started in 2014 and parking stretched onto the adjacent fields. In 2015 the show had a smaller turn out due to the weather. In 2016 the weather was much the same with similar numbers to 2015.

The day started with the 150 mile drive from Ipswich to Donnington along with several fuel stops and making use of the jet wash a mile away from the show. 306oc had its own stand in the west wing. With room for 30 cars it was disappointing to see low turn out from the club but as many of us have said before its a long way to travel for a few hours of show.

Heading into the show there were some of the staple cars we see at every show, the quavers 106, the cosworth clio dimma, the 205 dimmas etc.

Also was the 205 evo. For anyone who doesnt know its an evo 6 with a 205 front and rear end. Biggest giveaway is the questionable roof line.

Also new for this year was this awesome almost drag spec 106. Custom widebody, spoiler and some fantastic wide wheels. Shame about the colours!

This camo green 306 has been doing the rounds on facebook and undoubtedly takes inspiration from the meatwagon produced by chris pellowe a few years ago. Big exhaust stack and heat cover on this one!

Towards lunch time this mad 206 rolled in as well! Massive wing and super wide.

On the outside less show cars and more from the enthusiasts. Some great 306s on display as part of some of the local car clubs. This estate was getitng a lot of attention on the day and also on the event page afterwards. Almost identical to the "Race Estate" we had on here a few years ago. Good to see some good estates out there!

its always nice to see some of the old classics being looked after. This renault 5 was amazing and so much love for the 3 stud wheels.

Following the show Bates, Tom and I took the two blakc rallyes round to the circuit paddock. Security let us in and we stood on a bank where on one side on the main track there was a jevelin track day and on the other side a drift school operating.

As always with Expo its what you make of it and for the few who did attend it was a great time to catch up and talk cars. Next year hopefully we can make something of the night before and book a premier inn in Derby and have a meal in the harvester. As soon as next years date is announced we can start discussing some 306oc shenanigans to make us all as happy as Tom...

Another enjoyable show and thanks to PFC for organising. It takes a lot of effort to sort out the venue and organise the trade especially when most french hatch owners are pretty tight with their money. Hopefully next year itll be a bit earlier to take advantage of some of the nicer weather and we can get more members attending. Thanks to everyone who came and great to see you. PFC Mag took some photos of us so expect these to be in the next mag!

More pictures and post event discussion in the photos thread.

PFC Mag took some photos of us so expect these to be in the next mag!

Several of us booked onto a Javelin track day at Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk. £129 for the full day seemed to be a good price compared to the likes of FCS and French Car Show. Carl Chambers, Carls Dad, Pete, Ryan, Me and Sam were team 306 although there was another silver phase one there that we never saw. Lots of clios, 206s and meganes also booked in so knew we would be in good company with other french metal.

The day began at 6.30 with Bates arriving at my house. We were taking his 6 and my rallye to the track just in case the rallye had more issues than we knew it already had. Main issue being an intermittent misfire. At 7am we hit Framlingham petrol station which was literally just opening so we were the first customers of the day. Fuel tanks filled and two 25L cans full we were back on our way to the track.

We arrived just before 8 and went straight to sign on in the race office. Checked if it was okay to swap cars and yes, it is possible but you can only do it once and cant go back to a car that has been on track already. Also possible to add Sam as a driver later on. So essentially we could have had half a track day each but more importantly we knew we had a full day of hammering cars no matter what happened to the rallye.

Straight on from this we went to sound check. They were getting the cars through super quick. 4800 rpm for a few seconds and came out with only 89db which I was happy with. Next was the briefing in the restaurant. Far from the several briefings at combe this was one briefing for everyone. A room crammed with probably over a hundred people listening for 20 minutes. No questions asked and wrist bands distributed we were out for sighting laps.
Three sighting laps and we got in on the second ones. Amazingly someone span out on the first corner of the sighting lap, exactly what we had been told not to do!

Tyre pressures dropped to 25psi in the hope that they would get up to 30. New Nankang NS2Rs later got up to 33 at most and 27 at least. Out on track and it was wet and extremely greasy. All of the understeer as tyres werent at all warm. On the third corner of the third lap I managed to lose the back end. Full opposite lock applied instantly but not fast enough. Not sure what happened but from the video looks like I maybe came in too tight. Nobody behind so quick little reverse and completed the lap before heading in. Grabbed some bacon and egg sandwiches which came in the form of a baguette with an egg loped on top. Wasnt sure how to eat that so most of it went over the table.

Headed out for 15 minutes before checkered flag and then we were all in the pit lane with engines off for two minutes silence. Big Ben played over the tanoy. It was an extremely surreal experience. We came in early and watched some of the other cars before grabbing some chips for lunch. Lunch was 12:30 till 1:30 with track closed during this time. Bash and family came and said hi after watching us for the past hour. Jordan was also about but we only saw his car not him! Coming out of lunch we spotted this rare rallye van.

The afternoon saw the track a lot drier and being able to push the car much harder than before. A few red flags, spins and fluid drops but managed to get in a decent amount of time with some overtakes. Lots of blue flags instructing people to let faster cars through. In many cases before the car was actually anywhere near. Mostly BMW M3s and porsches. Alex in the Megane and Carl in the 306 seemed to have an interesting off on the last corner which scattered markers and mud over the track. Not sure what happened there but it was in the middle of a big bunch.

Towards the end of the day and with grip at its best the check engine oil light started coming on under hard cornering and there was a slightly metallic noise. Went back in and topped it up. Found that the brake fluid was also escaping the reservoir slightly and coolant was slightly down. All topped back up.

Carl Chambers wanted to show us what he could do in a standard GTI6. No mods or replaced bits here. Just a 79k car with some R888Rs and some decent pads. Not even lowered. It was amazing to see what a driver with balls could actually do. We overtook loads of cars I had seen fly past previously and on the hard corners he really lobbed the car in. Really interesting to see that we should all really be starting out with decent tyres.

Another final few laps before the end of the day and after another 20 minutes the noise was back so decided to call it the last two laps. I was feeling I was getting the hang of the car and decided to just try and see if I could get put a bit more effort in but ended up getting the back end out on the last corner. Some opposite lock before it gripped and flung itself the other way. Again nobody around so no issue. Called it a day after that! Other people were busy putting cars on trailers but we slipped away quickly just driving. The drive home was a pain as my phone sat nav didnt update fast enough. Lots of backroads but hitting all the pot holes in the dark. Back home by 5.30!

All in all it was a fantastic day with a good number of 306s out on the track although we didnt see each other that much on track. Great to meet some of the guys we hadnt seen before and a lot of track time for the money. Unfortunately my SD card corrupted but hopefully I can recover the footage. Track photos to come!
