Hi

I'm back!

Took the 306 for an MOT today. They gave it back to me with a busted ignition switch tumbler!

When I insert the key and turn the key, I meet resistance and can't turn the key enough to release the steering lock. After 10 or so attempts I can finally release the steering lock and start the engine, but it is extremely hit or miss.

Has anyone had first hand experience of this problem?

I assume it is the tumbler at fault. But could it be something else?

Can I simply get a tumbler from another 306 and fit it in this 306? Or is there some coded stuff to prevent that. I don't mind having a key for the central locking and another key for the ignition.

I have a spare 306 I am using for parts, so I can rob the key and bits off of that one if required.

Thanks

Where can I get a new clutch cable for 306 HDI year 2000?

I cannot access ServiceBox to find the part number (ServiceBox is not free anymore).

Eurocarparts and GSF don't list it.

I have not removed the broken cable yet, so don't know the length or part number.

And you'd think the cable would last more than 20 years! Lol.
What has to be removed to be able to get it out ?
The drivers side drive shaft is out as well as the support bearing casting, and the black plastic pipe from turbo to intake manifold, the ECU and bracket...what's the secret please ?
I am steadily making my way to removing the turbo ready for its removal, as well as a possible engine out to do clutch and other stuff like inlet manifold, for cleaning...
The turbo seems to be leaking oil into the air outlet, as streams of engine oil are flowing up to the inlet manifold. Looks like somewhere going on to the fuel tank then on to the handbrake cable.

Hi all.
I have a 206 with the DW10 engine and the turbo started screaming.
I’ve had a new core built with a billet compressor wheel and a water cooled housing.
It has a larger exducer diameter on the compressor wheel though and thus doesn’t fit my exhaust housing.
I have a 63mm exhaust to go on, a large fmic and an R70 pump, so I expect it could use the extra exhaust flow of the larger bore exducer.
I can’t find anyone willing to modify my housing for it though. Does anyone know anybody who will do this for me?

Thanks for your help

Howdy all, hope stuffs going ok. Had an absolute awful day today, which was rounded off nicley by the 306 deciding to join in with playing up.

We were on the drive home after dropping off the land rover to have work done at the garage (so of course the only other car we have would play up) and everything was fine entire way home. Pull onto driveway and when I turn off the car I noticed she had a slight run on for about half a second, certainly no longer than 1 full second.

Took her out a couple of hours later for a 2 minute drive to shops, engine light was on the entire time, but she didn't have the run-on when turning off this time.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'll try and find a garage tomorrow that can read her fault codes, but not optimistic (doesnt seem to be worth their time for most local garages).

Aside from that theres been no other noticable symptoms, not down on power or any new noises. I did change the headlight bulbs 2 days ago incase that could somehow be related :p

EDIT: UPDATE: Couldn't find garage willing to look. But after further googling discoered the engine light goes away after 3 succesful startup/shutdowns. The problem never happened again, the light went out, been perfectly normal ever since. So going to assume the hiccup was just a stuck sensor or some other minor problem that, fingers crossed, won't come back any time soon.

Cheers

Hi All!

I spent the whole of yesterday giving my 306 HDi a really good clean up and I am really happy with the results. The one thign I'm still not so happy with is the spoke it produces. It's currently on a Stage 1+ map and when you give it some abuse it smokes quite a bit.

I am wondering whether anyone has any ideas how to lower it? Idea's I have come up with so far.

- Go back down to a lower performance map. (Perhaps somewhere around the 115hp mark with a lower fueling level at lower RPM's (Before turbo has spooled).
- Fit an intercooler to allow colder, more dense air in to better use the diesel going in?
- Some kind of good quality fuel additive??
- Have the injectors refurbished with new nozzles to make sure the fuel is atomizing properly? (Is there anywhere that still does this?)

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Cheers.

Cheers.

It seems the turbo has been passing some oil, ever since i have had it probably, but it always was good between oil changes need only some oil may be once or twice between changes........and no smoke from the exhaust noticed.....

but there is a small river of oil seen entering the inlet manifold after about 20 seconds at 2k revs, so not good.

Might there be a kit for the turbo bearing?

I now can't get the dipstick back into the the tube. The plastic is very brittle. I did manage to get half of it out but I can't see anymore of it, it must be deep in the tube around where it starts to bend? , not even a powerful torch will show anything up. Apart from that the car won't start, Fault codes P403 EGR circuit P510 closed throttle postion switch. Bump start down a hill didn't start it but it will fire for a sec with the starter. (the non start fault was the main problem I was trying to fix but now this dipstick problem has made things worse)
Is it possible to remove the tube from the block? Looks very low down.
Wondering should I scrap the car? 2001 lots of miles, seems expensive to fix around here not many garages in the middle of nowhere, wondering if to fly back home and buy a new car?
