Hi - if anyone is still here!

I'm at a bit of a loss with my Phase 1 GTI - in short, I'm getting no dash, no crank, no fuel pump, no headlights, essentially no power.

What I am getting: hazards, interior lights, immo light, 12v into the cabin and into the barrel.

It was working, running well - 2 days later, I'm trying to get my new fan motor installed and working as the previous had rusted up and seized, alongside a busted heater matrix (which got changed).

I've checked:
- 12v to the barrel
- Fuses inside
- Engine bay and maxi fuses
- Relays , and they're working
- Power to relays
- Recharged the battery
- Used jump leads with the battery and without the battery connected in case it was a dodgy battery
- Checked earth straps on the gearbox and in the cabin
- Checked the wiring behind the fuse box (as good as I can)

I'm at a bit of a loss.

The only thing's I worked on since it worked:
- Coolant flush (emptied via the stat housing)
- Rear lights refitted
- Headlight bulbs added
- New fan motor plugged in

Notoriously, I went to unplug these all one by one to see if they were causing an issue and still nothing.

Any suggestions would be great!

I only ever made a few posts on here and recently wondered what had become of the forum. I think it is time to consider it officially dead. Maybe admin doesn't quite want to officially call it. I know there's a few Facebook groups knocking about where I suspect most have ended up now

Wife's 306 XSI won't start. I suspected fuel (about the only thing I've gotten correct thus far) and it started with some fuel down the inlet.

Some googling and Aussie Frogs told me it was either the pump or the relay. I powered the pump up and it sounded OK.
Am I right to make my next step a fuel pump relay replacement?

But why wouldn't it start with the pump running from a jumper battery?
It's doing my head in.

Thanks once again.

Closer to Manchester the better but could travel for the right thing. Ideally a standard top-mount (even a DHY lol, got a DW10 laying about with decent rods!) but anything would help.

Again ideally (but not essential, beggars can't be choosers & all that crap) complete with manual gearbox.

Pretty much if it's an anywhere near complete XUD9T/TE then give us a shout, you'll potentially make an old ZX very happy!

Hello everyone,

I haven't driven my car for 2 years and it was waiting for paint, then the work was done and I took my car back.

But the heater fan works non-stop.

First, I looked at the fan relay, it was clean, but I still bought a new green relay, I installed a new fuse, then I bought a 6441A1 (resistor unit), but it still continues to have full power.

Where should I look?

Does it affect the interior temperature sensor (6445AJ)?

the panel lights are working.

A/C and interior cover open and close are working

I removed the brown socket going to the fan and measured it with a multimeter, when I change the fan speed, the volts change, when it is at full speed it is 7.45 v, when it is off (I know it is not fully off ) it is 11.36 v.

I think this means the panel's signals are correct.

But I don't understand why the fan speed doesn't change. I have 2 fan modules, 1 is magnet, Marelli and the other is Sagem, but nothing has changed in both of them, they are still full power.

I just connected the module without connecting the fan and measured the black and red cables that will go to the district fan with a multimeter.
When I changed the fan speed setting on the panel, the V at the module output did not change.

I need some advice where I should look.

Note: The dark brown cable with its empty counterpart at the very end of the panel socket seems to have melted a bit.

Recently got my MOT (a pass, yay!) but with a few advisories and have had a few things of note since then.

Can't seem to attach images, so I'll include a link to the MOT results

Page 1: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OOKwPem...share_link

Now, the exhaust blew on the way back and after *weeks* of faffing to get the right parts, I've finally replaced the catalyst. But now I have some symptoms with braking.

When I start the car, ABS light is not on, however when I press the brake even gently the ABS kicks in. After a minute or so driving, the ABS light turns on and remains on. After about 10 minues driving tonight, the handbrake light lit up for about a minute then went off (I understand this might be low brake fluid?).

Got some new brake pads for the rear on the way, but I feel like theres likley to be more issues given the mention of brake imbalance on the MOT sheets and the fact the ABS light is always on. So figured I'd come and ask if anyone has any pointers on where to look first.

Thanks very much

I got bubbles in my coolant and took of the head on my turbo xud9...had the head tested and its cracked :/ I guess the 22 psi of boost and the massive amounts of fuel eventually took its toll.

Now I can't seem to find any other used head from a turbo engine in my country...all I had found so far are from N/A engines. Can I put one from a N/A engine...everything is the same, valves, seats, camshaft, etc. I am just worried that N/A heads are somewhat weaker internally...

Changing circumstances mean she is hardly being used now and I don't have anywhere off-road to keep her so it (might) be time for her to go.
I'm not sure how to value such a vehicle. Are the XS models desirable? And are these sorts of vehicles going up in value or is that wishful thinking?!

Finally have some time to make inroads in to tidying up one of my garaged 306's. Have cleaned up, treated & primed most of the boot floor. Still pondering how to tackle the bump stop mounts but beating them repeatedly with a hammer seems to have knocked most of the flakey rust off.

The few little rust holes at the back corners of the wheel arches & in the upper P/S wheel arch have been repaired (Sorry, don't have pics of all stages of repair). I'm not the greatest welder in the world and when I look back at the pics I can see it really isn't a great job. Tbf, I'm just glad I was able to achieve anything. I really didn't want to get in to having to deal with MIG gas & didn't have a whole heap of money to throw at a welder so got a small Clarke gasless one. If you read around most people say you can't weld thin body panels using gasless wire. A few say it is possible, with care. I actually managed half decent results when practicing with off-cuts, but that is generally ideal conditions. It's a different matter when you're cramped in the car boot & can't get the torch at the angle you really want or can't see properly when you start the weld.

All the settings on the welder are set as low as they'll go or it's super-easy to blow holes in the panels. That led to a lot of the welds being on the cold side but it's the only option I have really. I made it even harder for myself as I have no mains power at the garage & so have to use a generator. The output to the welder isn't totally consistent & so the arc isn't hugely consistent when welding either. I ended up with a few areas of slag inclusion, which could also have been user error tbh. Would have liked it to be better, but can live with it. It'll all get several layers of paint & a good covering of seam gloop so will hopefully last a while. If it doesn't hold up I might try using epoxy specifically designed for joining body panels. Anyone else tried it? e.g. Viking Thorflex 10 Two Part Adhesive 50ml – Viking Industrial Products Ltd (vikingtapes.co.uk)

Once all the bodywork is done I'll crack on with putting it all back together. There's a rebuilt beam to go on, new mounts, newly made cu-ni brake pipes, a new brake compensator valve & a few other bits. That'll have to wait until the Autumn tho....holiday first.
I need to remove the dash to get to heater unit to replace a leaky matrix, any advise, tips etc. Please ?
Does the main loom come out with the dash or can/does the loom remain in place on the bulkhead etc. ?
