My track toy
Done bit more today had a go at painting the boot lid rather than paying for it to be done

[Image: C2C71AE2-1F11-49CF-A36F-6B195BAC74FB-225...5196a3.jpg]

Offered it up to the car to see how it fits and also how close my painting is

Also decided to fit the rallye decal to the bonnet as got a set of graphics to replace the faded items on the car

Only issue is ... I dnt think I like it just doesnt look right with the badge missing and the altered grill

Few little bits added

Boots finished being painted and have fitted the polycarb window back in that it came with its not the best as had been heated to try to get it to form the the boot but has bubbled a little but it'll do for now, I do have a new lexan window for the rear but is also not formed so although it would pull into a steel boot it'll just rip the fibreglass so will stick with what I have for now untill I buy a formed piece

[Image: 13202B68-B97A-4485-BF3C-78E8EE14843F-162...7ac3de.jpg]

Fitted a bit of chequer plate to the footwells to stop the freshly painted insides getting scuffed and more importantly to stop my feet skidding around

[Image: E6B1BD39-E03F-4EA7-A553-6594FB9467BF-162...1ca4ee.jpg]

And finally fitted a better catch tank

Now for some track time Smile

So bit gutting really as have owned the car for nearly a year now and tbh it's been a nite mate from the word go as picked it up and found a tapping a knocking engine and was awful to drive so engine and box came out to find bent valves and the springs on the clutch plate hanging off. So ended up looking for options and ended up going the whole hog and getting another engine and bodies and management fitted at same time, and now 6-7 months later its kinda back to square one again with spending a heap of cash at "specialists" inbetween lol

So kinda undecided on the next route to take tbh so currently weighing up the options of what to do

Walk away for a bit mate, walk away.

I thought my Rallye's engine was knackered after gutting the engine bay to replace a knackered lump, with new box, rack, charger etc etc only to have two faulty water pumps and have the cam pulley rotate after doing the belt with the engine running.

Walked away for 2 and a bit months and then came back to it with renewed vigour. Smile

Lol yeah walked away and now come back, basically the plan at the min is it will run again just keeping various engine route options open as want it running but dont wanna pay the earth for the privilege only to end up with another crap engine lol

Yeah chris could do mate. Trouble is I want to eventually get a proper engine done by him but want to get this one back running just to get a few more days out of it. Got the possibility of a recon head from a company we use at work for next to nothin, and also possibility of a engine but keeping options open if the head doesn't come through ill prob give him a ring before buying a engine as least it'll be a good engine if it comes from him.

Well if you do get a engine off matt you would have some come back on it, and you know what his engines are like.

About time I did a update..

Following on from the head gasket issues the head was sent for checking and has come back had 2 new valves fitted and skimmed/pressure tested, only to then find that when the carriers were refitted the inlet cam just locked up solid so head is warped and scrap Sad

So back to the drawing board and ended up picking up a low mileage engine complete with a xsara vts so have removed it and am now in the stage of fitting it to the rallye. Although currently awaiting a crank seal as noticed a slight leak.

Also whilst I was waiting for a suitable engine I also picked up some 24mm torsion bars and 30mm arb and also this week picked up some hi spec calipers and discs which should improve the braking from my last trackday as found the standard brakes were not up to the job

Hoping to get out on track again at some point this year if I can but will be a lot more slow progress as also trying to buy a house but hopefully got all bits I need to get it running again

Had a afternoon spare today so got cracking

Got gearbox fitted on which proved more awkward than thought it would be

[Image: d6c18c8fb8a8bc5a0e196183cc131e11_zpsc2c6bd32.jpg]

Started to fit the wiring and ancillaries

[Image: 76670c325cd9ba6d7ee0abff5f852c51_zps9a7a811f.jpg]

Came across a hurdle though when I went to fit the single coilpack from my original set up into my new engine as it fouls all the bolt holes for the original individual coils

Old head

Current head

So time to get choppin I guess lol

keep it up chap...its looks fab.

I do like the front modded grill actually. I need to sort something for mine, as with a oil cooler,FMIC, A/C rad and twin slimlines, theres a lot for the air to get passed before it gets to the rad!

Thanks modded grill took a lot of effort as its got custom built rad and I made a custom slam panel as well to go with it but felt it needed something just to get a decent air flow to the bodies as with the longer inlet (although they made good figures) it left half of the bodies directly behind a hot rad whereas now there in open air

Yeah she's all up and running got to bleed up brakes which the lines have only turned up this week so can get them fitted and all bled up then its ready to roll. Going through possibly buying a house atm so no funds at all for a while there's even a possibility that the car may have to be broken in order to raise a deposit but that'll all depend on timescale its a last resort but a possibility Sad

Hi, I noticed you were selling your omp cage not to long ago on the for sale section from your white 306. Is it still for sale? I am building a gti6 race car at the moment for ACWmotorsportplastics (my dad)
I know this is the wrong section to ask but because I'm a new member I can't reply to your add on the for sale section! If you could give me a call that would be ace!
Thanks Craig

Hi sorry the cage went a while ago and the coilovers were ksport's from pug1off.

Sadly the car was stripped and the shell ended up with a mate for spare panels/parts for his race car

Wasn't what I wanted but needed to free up funds for a house deposit and it was the only way tbh, wouldn't have done it otherwise
