On another note, piggy, it might be worth having it weighed more accurately, although you will never be able to weigh its orignal weight but we know roughly given stock weights etc...
Scrapyard scales are not massively accurate from what I can see, we have used them before to weigh gross weights of our grain trailers etc, With 6-7 tonne of them two of our local ones were different by nearly 400kg, so could EASILY be 30-50kg out down at that weight IMO..
Thing you have to remember, is is it really worth it to you to have annoying windows / lack of heaters / de misters etc, JUST to get down below 1000kg?
IMO loose some weight on wheels / brakes and leave it alone if you want to carry on driving it all the time...
