The Racetractor. The End.

Sad
Ok so guna be a catch up thread as it were...
First of all the story begins with the green turd:

Had the car for 3 years now...done 50k without breakdown, except for my wife using it as a boat once.

Love the 306. Learnt how to be a grease monkey on them.

It was like this for 2 1/2 of those years...

getting to point of selling and buying newer...but I hate newer cars...so project to renew the old...

[Image: 20120910_163931.jpg] (gti rear beam (38k))
[Image: 20120910_1640070.jpg] (gti master)
[Image: 20120910_183605.jpg] (gti fronts)

....and continue...

boost gauge...being moved soon...but doing job...

diy cold air feed and induction...bit temp but it again does job...moved battery back for it...

not much happened since apart from some fancy wipers, which work great by the way...and snow/winter wheels/tyres....

the things not seen inc new handbrake cables, tidy and honest stereo install, cambelt change, services every 6k, undersealing, common things like ball joints and front arms every 3500miles! currently trying to resolve a rear wiper with a attitude. but apart from that the car is fault free.

In the list of items ready to fit/in the post...
2.1 12v engine (ARRIVED!)
11mm bosch hybrid pump
hdi gearbox (BOUGHT...awaiting pickup)
stainless powerflow exhaust (ARRIVED!)
intercooler than I won for 99p...
slimline fan
centre console pod
powerflex bushes
strut brace
coilovers

Ready to buy (set aside at the scrappys)
Twin optic headlights
GTi front n rear bumpers
new rad
washer jets...i hate those chrome ones!!!

looking for:
gti side skirts (ph1)
gti spoiler(ph1)

the idea is a GT.
A cruiser, with poke.
So the XT comfort inside but that doesnt struggle to go up a hill with 5up!

Surly the fat hole you have cut into your sill is an MOT failer?

nope. passed not long ago. with the hole....

be repaired and covered soon by gti skirts too!!!

but that brings out a good point...you could, for a stupid reason, cut most of your sill away...then cover it with a side skirt and it pass...despite it being dangerous!!

nope, I bought the xsi wheels 6months after buying the car.

No dent either...sorry

Bought it off a old gent, he had owned it for years, spent silly money at garages for repairs inc headgasket at 80k.

slow and steady as it goes....not got much time or funds so this wont be as quick as recent 2.1 conversions!

this has arrived...

note the lucas pump in the background...out of curiosity, not thought about it before, the lucas ecu controlled pump turns easily, but the 11mm hybrid is difficult to turn....that normal?

started to strip engine down as I am starting to sell the parts I dont need...so I am at this point...

doing well...sold the injection pump, injectors and PAS pump, interest in the alternator too...just about to put up listing for loom and starter motor. made back 80quid so far allowing for fees...so not too bad, whole lump cost me 180!

1.9 Mate, used the whole thermostat housing and fuel filter assembly off the 1.9, the hole on the block is the same and the pipes are at better angles.

oh and im running 2 thermostats, the 1.9 one at the front and the 2.1 one at the back
