ph2 glovebox + airbag -> ph1

getting pissed off not having a glovebox, anyway to remove the airbag and whatever else is making the ph2 glovebox so pointless and replace it with ph1 bits? as the glovebox now is less than pointless, can't even fit my head unit face in there!!

Exactly what I did last night.
Take the HU out, 13 mm undo that, pull the pin out, the airbag will lift out, drill all the rivets out, then use some of the speaker clips that you screw into and fit top box

Guessing you have aircon? I'm sure it aircon related wich stops the phase 2/3 have a large glove box.
As my rallye has the huge glovebox and no aircon!

well its on my remove list too! so lose pointless weight and gain a big glove box, seems like win to me!
although I'm still unsure if my ac works or not

It's bloody heavy I know that much!! As for why there is no room, not really. Exactly the same as a car without air con if I am honest...

And in relation to the air bag light, I am unsure as my drivers seat is dodgey throwing the light up anyway.... But there is a few threads on the '6 forum and they never seem to have a problem

Just another reason to sack off the 6 and buy a ph1 derv

also the steering lock, its f*cking terrible!
If I was offered a ph1 dturbo in the condition of the 6 for the same money would have gone for it tbh, give it time though the gti will get there
