It now has a lovely rebuilt, now head gasket blowing engine sat in the engine bay so it just needs last few bits connecting and then it should be up and running again, and then I might sling my new bumper on while i'm at it!

OK you wanted Photo's, this is what I been on with, (be warned that there are some epic gaps in proceedings )

I had a 75k block sat in my garage for over a year and my HG issues has kind of rushed me into building it up, so

Piston as it was removed from the block............... hock:


Piston cleaned up and attached to HDi rod -


And for anyone who cares, an XUD and a DW10 rod side by side-


Head mating face and head all cleaned up with painted rocker cover.....



Shiny pistons-


Block all painted up with properly dirty bores


Tidy up of wheels.......(still ongoing hence the random selection on the car currently)


Clean and shiny sump before re-fitting-


Bores honed out, pistons re-fitted and mating face cleaned up -


Built up with head back on block

and then engine change time over this weekend............
I thought I should maybe take some pics............after I had removed most of the front end............fail


and then the progress........small gap here from the last pic..........



Then Carl came over and stole my sump from my old engine..........in the middle of the garage...........leaving a huge puddle of oil and an engine to move on my own with no sump :roll: thanks


and then the next pics I took............notice another small gap here.............



so umm yeah. there is a FMIC install and some engine installation went on somewhere in there but I kinds forgot to photograph it

Looks good Mark, always liked your Ph2. I'll be getting a set of HDI rods soon and need to find another engine to rebuilt with them in.
Did you just use the original pistons, bearing ect?

Bearing shells that came with the HDi rods and the original pistons (although I should probably have skimmed them while they were out but lack of time and money has resulted in than not being done) I don't think the DT bearing shells fit the HDi rods but I didn't look TBH, but I think I remember darren saying they were!

Compare the before and after shots of my engine bay! Believe me its a million times better than it was

2 screws and you are just left with the brackets for the plate have to be legal and all I got a bollocking last year about this time for running no front plate...............knowing my luck it would be the same copper
