valve adjustment shims
#1
I haven't had a camshaft removed before but know that the exhaust valve clearances are closed right up on my XUD7TE. There are no obvious symptoms, still starting/ running OK, but would like to get them sorted before trying too many tuning changes to
turbo and pump.
To me, the obvious way would be to mount the shim on a rotating flat surface (lathe) and skim with a toolpost grinder.
This would save a lot of time locating /finding shims from spare motors (disassembled parts etc etc.)
I guess if a shim selection /was/ available this then isn't an issue.
Just wondering if anyone has taken this more direct approach to valve clearances?

Cheers
