Refitting fuel rails

Ok so I had to remove the fuel rails and intake manifold on a BMW E38 to replace a coolant pipe that had broken, after getting some new extension pieces I finally managed to get the intake bolted back on. My new problem is trying to push the fuel rails back into the intake. I just wondered if anyone had any tips for getting them back in? I accept its just 'pushing it back in' but I thought about putting petrol around the seals and using a piece of wood and hammer to strike the top of the rails? Any suggestions will be appreciated

im not familiar with bmw stuff but is this trying to get the injectors into the manifold and the rail onto the injectors? On a 306 there are rubber o rings.I struggle all the time getting the rail onto them but a bit of fairly liquid is always the answer.

Yeah due to space ive left the injectors in the fuel rail and im trying to push the whole thing starting at the back into each port. These have little o rings too so il try the fairy liquid trick. Cars at my parents so wont be able to try it till next Saturday, but il get a bottle ready!

I would suggest grease rather than fairy liquid, can't imagine detergents will do your fuel any favours lol. Tbh same goes for any refitting any rubber parts/seals/o-rings - bit of grease helps everything go more smoothly.
